Ronda Rousey is one of the biggest name in the history of wrestling and mixed martial art and is currently signed with WWE on Smackdown. Ronda Rousey is the daughter of the first american world Judo Champion AnnMaria De Mars and was one of the reasons for her to follow her mother and become a judoka herself. At the age of eleven Rousey started her journey in judo where she trained with her mother for two years. At the age of 17 Ronda became the youngest judoka to qualify for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. In 2004 she also won the Gold Medal World Junior Judo Championship.

At the age of 21 Rousey decided to retire from Judo and after gaining an interest in the Mixed Martial Arts started training in Jiu Jitsu under different coaches. Rousey as an amateur in 2010 defeated Hayden Munoz in her debut match in MMA and won the match in 23 seconds. Ronda made her professional MMA debut at King of the Cage: Turning Point where she faced Ediane Gomes and tapped her out in just 25 seconds. With in a year of her debut it was clear to everyone that Ronda Rousey is going to be the next big thing in MMA.

In 2012 Ronda Rousey signed with UFC  becoming the first female fighter to sign with the promotion. At a pre match press conference of UFC on Fox it was declared that Rousey was the first UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.  Rousey made her debut at UFC 157 where she defended her title against Liz Carmouche where she defeated her in the first round to retain the title. Ronda Rousey held on the Women’s Bantamweight title for more than three years destroying anyone that cam in her path.

In November of 2015 Rousey was all set to defend her title against Holly Holm and it an epic encounter Rousey was knocked out by Hokm ending her epic title reign. After the defeat Ronda Rousey decided to step away from MMA unofficially and has since been inducted in UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.

During her time away from UFC Rousey decided to pursue a career in professional wrestling and was seen attending WWE premium live events. At Wrestlemania 31 Rousey made her presence felt in the WWE after she took down Stephanie McMahon. Rousey officially signed with WWE in 2018 following her appearance at Royal Rumble that year. She went on to become the WWE Women’s Champion and was a fan favourite for a long time.

In 2020 after being booed by the WWE fans Ronda Rousey went on rant and called wrestling fans fake which garnered a lot of negative reactions from the fans towards Rousey. Daniel Cormier thought it was a smart play on the part of Rousey and stated it was one of the oldest trick in the book while speaking on Ariel Helwani’s show:

” I think Ronda saw what happened to her. Ronda was all cheers and for no reason all of a sudden they’re booing at her. So now she’s capitalizing on that. Ronda is like ‘oh! I’ll be the bad guy when I do come back and you’re really gonna hate me’ That’s what I think is happening right now. And Ronda is brilliant! It’s a genius! It’s the oldest trick in the game, and she did it to perfection.”

Ronda Rousey recently lost her Smackdown Women’s Championship to Liv Morgan after the latter cashed in het MITB briefcase on an vulnerable champion.
