The Dudley Boyz, with Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley, are a professional wrestling tag team that rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s. They have played a big role in making the tag team division in wrestling as big as it is today. Dudleys still remain one of the most popular and beloved tag teams in the history of professional wrestling.
In a recent interview with Wrestling News, D-Von Dudley opened up about the happenings prior to his departure from the WWE. He also addressed the rumor that Triple H was the reason for his departure. D-Von said, “Let me just say this. No issues with Triple H. Triple H did not threaten to fire me. What a lot of people don’t know is I did not speak to Hunter directly during that, but no, he did not threaten to fire me. It was just again, you know, miscommunication on the dirt sheet writers or whatever, but that was not the case.”
D-Von also praised The Game, saying, “You have shirts out there that say ‘I’m a Paul Heyman guy.’ I’m a Paul Heyman guy because he helped me with ECW, but I’m only a Triple H guy. I can’t begin to thank that man enough for everything that he’s done for me. He was the reason why I became a producer.”
Going into the details, D-Von described, when he and Bubba-Ray Dudley left as talent, Triple H suggested D-Von could be a good producer. However, D-Von wanted to continue wrestling and putting over young talent. Vince McMahon, however, was not thinking the same, and he was not given a choice. D-Von accepted the job because he always wanted to work with WWE.
