It appears like the SmackDown women’s division is about to be bolstered. Why so? It’s because Dakota Kai, who’s been out of action since May of last year courtesy of a torn ACL, is heavily teasing her return. Moreover, she posted a clip where the Damage CTRL member could be seen flaunting her moves while filming promotional content for WrestleMania 40.

It could very well mean that she’s on her way back relatively soon. Before that, she also posted an image on her Instagram stories, apparently sweating out in the gym. Her knee brace appeared to be off when she appeared on Raw post-Royal Rumble. That simply means she is closer than ever to plotting her comeback. Dakota Kai even reacted to her group’s disintegration and posted a heartbreaking emoji in her post on X.

Noticeably, she wasn’t on the show alongside Damage CTRL last week. Kai made the case for a conspicuous omission, as she had been accompanying her fellow members for the past few months despite not having fully recovered. For what it’s worth, the WWE Universe has its queries. Some of them perceived a whiff of a potential conspiracy Dakota Kai may have orchestrated against Bayley, which led to her betrayal on SmackDown.

However, at this point, everything’s speculation. Things will become more clear when Kai makes her return to WWE television. And it could happen as soon as this week. Before her injury, Dakota was paired with current Women’s Champion Iyo Sky. The two women are former Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Is Dakota Kai primed for major inclusion at WrestleMania 40?

As of the moment, Iyo Sky is set to defend her Women’s Championship against Bayley at WrestleMania 40. First and foremost, it’s going to be a historic night for both of them. For Sky, it will be her second consecutive match at WrestleMania.

Whereas for Bayley, even though she’s been in those shoes before, she has yet to compete in her first singles match at The Showcase of the Immortals. Now, there could be a further twist in the tale. As mentioned above, Dakota Kai could have a major role to play in the ongoing Damage CTRL saga.

Things would get interesting if she inserts herself into the women’s title match to make it a triple threat. How poetic it would be to see Bayley, Sky, and Kai battle it out on the Grandest Stage of them all.
