At WWE Fastlane 2016 Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar squared off against each other to determine the number one contender form triple h’s wwe championship. In a battle of epic proportions between the three warriors, Reigns and Ambrose at one point decided to team against Brock Lesnar. With Brock Lesnar taken care of roman took the advantage and pinned Ambrose to set up his match with triple H at wrestle mania for the WWE Championship.

What followed in the weeks to come leading to wrestlemania got wrestling fans around the world very excited. For the last month, Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose had been fighting each other. Their confrontations on Raw and at WWE Fastlane were significant, and fans wondered if they’d have a match against one other at WrestleMania.

Finally, the match was set up at Wrestlemania, Dean Ambrose vs Brock Lesnar in a Street Fight. This match’s design and concept had people’s imaginations running wild. Fans could only picture what Lesnar would put Ambrose through, and what Ambrose would go through himself in order to defeat The Beast. The match was noticeably underwhelming, and it appeared as if Brock was only interested in putting on a big show for himself, rather than putting on a solid match with Ambrose.

Dean Ambrose discussed how he was overlooked by writers, producers, Vince McMahon, and even Brock Lesnar himself in the build-up to the match:

“[Lesnar] didn’t wanna be there, I mean he just put in the — and then the week leading up, I’m like — because this thing is a Street Fight. It’s not a match you can just call in the ring. It’s a Street Fight at WrestleMania, so we’ve gotta get stunts approved and set up, we’ve gotta get props for table bumps, or whatever we’re gonna do.”

“I pitched all this stuff to everybody; all the producers and I feel like I’m just getting ignored. Because our match wasn’t important to any of the producers or writers, or Vince. They just gave me enough to give me the match, but they didn’t give me any help to make it a good angle or like, make it a hotter thing people want to see.”

“And [I’m like] ‘Can we do this? Can we do this? Can we, all these different stunts and stuff.’ Like, I’m ready to die in the ring. I’m ready to take the worst — I’m not trying to put Brock through abuse. I’m trying to take the worst beating in the history of the world. I’m ready to be, if he kills me? Great, I’ll go down as a legend. I was ready to do ANYTHING. But in the weeks leading up, the angle was not good, Brock’s not even there half the time, we don’t do anything interesting.”

Dean Ambrose was really disappointed after his match with brock at wrestle mania and in a podcast with Steve Austin even called the beast incarnate lazy.

“Ambrose: I went to the ring that night pretty pissed off, but then I really started to enjoy … as I walked to the ring. I had no idea what was going to happen. Went out there with not much of a plan, so to speak.

Austin: What were you pissed off about?

Ambrose: I felt like I was pulling teeth to turn that match into something epic and so forth.

Austin: You’re an MMA fan just like I am, was it a disconnect in styles? Artistically, in the ring?

Ambrose: Artistically, Brock didn’t want to do anything, if we’re going to be perfectly honest. Brock’s gonna Brock.  He’s all about Brock. I had a vision for that match to be the craziest thing imaginable, you know what I mean, and I was trying to pitch everything to everybody and had every idea. I put so much effort in and so much work in, and other people did too, and I was met with laziness.”

With everything said and done Dean Ambrose has now left WWE to sign with AEW and wrestles with the name Jon Moxley. Brock Lesnar still works for WWE. We might have to wait see if we get another instalment of the Lunatic fringe vs the beast Incarnate.
