“That’s the way it goes in the pro-wrestling business”- Former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio compares Paige’s fan base to John Cena’s

Paige was one of the top female wrestlers during her time in WWE. She was a hard worker and dedicated to her craft, she became the youngest Divas Champion in WWE history. Paige made her WWE debut in 2012 on NXT Brand and became a fan favorite instantly. She went on a winning streak and defeated several prominent female Superstars of today such as Sasha Banks, Emma, Aksana and defeated Alicia Fox multiple times. Paige entered the NXT Women’s tournament in 2012 and became the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion by defeating Emma in the finals.
Paige made her main roster debut in 2014 and won the Divas Championship on her debut itself. She defeated AJ Lee who had challenged her to an impromptu match for the championship. Paige held the title for 85 days before being defeated by Lee on an edition of RAW. She won it the second time when she defeated Lee again at SummerSlam 2014. Lee then managed to win it again from her at the Night of Champions 2014.
Paige announced her retirement from wrestling in 2018
During the Women’s revolution Paige formed the group PCB consisting of Charlotte and Becky Lynch but the group was dissolved when Paige attacked Flair after the latter became the Divas Champion. Since her Divas Championship defeat in 2014, she has failed to win any Women’s Championship in WWE.
Paige also known as Saraya Jade Bevis announced her in ring retirement on RAW, the day after WrestleMania 34. Bevis had suffered a neck injury in 2017 at a house show after Sasha Banks had kicked her. Bevis stated that the injury being life threatening forced her to retire from in-ring competition. Bevis was then seen in non-wrestling roles as a General manager of SmackDown and acted as a contributor to WWE-related programs. Saraya departed from WWE on July 7th as her contract had expired.
Back in 2016, Bevis was engaged to now Former WWE wrestler Alberto Del Rio but the couple split in late 2017 and Since then Del Rio has made domestic violence accusations against her.
In a recent interview with Riju Dasgupta of SportsKeeda, Del Rio claimed that Paige is the same as John Cena in that both have millions of followers and millions of haters and that this is how things are in the pro wrestling industry. That’s how it works in this wonderful business, he said in conclusion.
“She’s still young and there’s a lot of people that likes her so and also a lot of people that dislikes her but that’s the way it goes in the pro-wrestling business, that goes for everybody including my good friend, John Cena. I mean there’s millions loving him and there’s millions hating. That’s the way it goes in this beautiful business.”
It has been speculated that Paige would make her in ring return someday, but she hasn’t given any confirmation regarding it. As of now, she is retired.
