The third match of Crown Jewel 2023 saw Solo Sikoa go against John Cena. The Cenation Leader delivered everything he had in his arsenal. However, he failed to secure the victory as his losing streak continued. Sikoa applied multiple Samoan Spikes to defeat The Greatest of All Time and to have his first ever singles PLE match win.

The match started with Cena being defensive but having the privilege to take control soon. During their move exchange, Sikoa gained momentum, resulting in the Saudi Arabian crowd booing him. The match again went in Cena’s favor when he countered Samoan Spike with a peculiar submission move.

John Cena continued his momentum by doing his moves rally in a counter to Samoan Spike. But the Attitude Adjustment saw Solo take over as he even countered it to apply a Samoan Drop. Having converted Samoan Spike to Samoan Drop was not enough for The Enforcer, as he continued his attacks. Multiple Samoan Spikes were taken by Cena before ultimately getting pinned by Sikoa.

With that, Cena has been unfortunate to win any singles televised match since 2018. His last win came at the Greatest Royal Rumble, when he defeated Triple H. However, after the match, he received a standing ovation from the crowd in Riyadh. The WWE Universe expressed their gratitude to the WWE legend.

Solo Sikoa’s first-ever PLE victory resembles with Kevin Owens’ debut

The Prizefighter Kevin Owens is one of the most loved babyfaces in WWE now. But his debut on the main roster was highly heel oriented as he confronted John Cena. On the May 18 episode of Raw, Owens came out for John’s US Title open challenge when he was already the NXT Champion.

The confrontation between the stars saw Owens a pop-up powerbomb on Cena. Both then shared the ring again in a match at Elimination Chamber 2015, which the former won, making his main roster in-ring debut. This was sort of replicated when Solo Sikoa defeated Cena at Crown Jewel 2023.

After more than a year on the main roster, his match against Cena was his first-ever singles PLE match. All thanks to The Cenation Leader for empowering The Enforcer and taking the loss for the former’s sake. The common factor between Owens and Sikoa’s first PLE match was John putting them over.
