Dolph Ziggler has been one of the most talented WWE superstars of all time. Dolph Ziggler has a great sense of marketability and has proven it during his prime in the company. The WWE Universe also has appreciated Ziggler athletic ability in the ring. The crowd always and to this day reacts to Dolph’s promos and performances. He is undoubtedly one of the hard workers in WWE and will always be a fantastic wrestler. WWE hasn’t been offering him a decent run lately but with his recent appearance on RAW we might anticipate something good for him.
This year in February, Dolph Ziggler debuted on NXT on an edition of NXT 2.0 and was involved in a segment with Bron Breakker and Santos Escobar. On March 8, 2022, at NXT Roadblock, Dolph beat Tommaso Ciampa and the NXT champion Bron Breakker in a triple threat match to win the NXT Championship. This was Dolph’s first world title win in over nine years. He is also the first person to win the title, without being a part of NXT. Dolph lost the championship to Bron Breakker in April on an edition of RAW, thereby ending his reign of 27 days.
Dolph Ziggler won the World Heavyweight Championship for second time by cashing his MITB contract
In July 2012, Dolph Ziggler had won the Money in the Bank Ladder match and was waiting for the right opportunity to cash in his contract. Dolph made many attempts to cash in the contract, including four times on SmackDown against the then champions Sheamus and Big Show. Ziggler’s further attempts were unsuccessful due to Ricardo Rodriguez and John Cena, respectively.
Dolph stood up for the briefcase on two occasions, once against Jericho on RAW and other against John Cena in TLC 2012. In April 2013, Alberto Del Rio was attacked by Jack Swagger on an edition of Raw, Dolph took the opportunity and beat Del Rio to become the World Heavyweight Champion for the second time in his career.
During a recent interview on Café de Rene Podcast, Former WWE Superstar and Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez disclosed some facts about Dolph Ziggler’s cash in. He said that it was supposed to happen at WrestleMania 29 but the then Executive Vice-president of Talent, Live Events and Creative Triple H declared that he wanted Dolph Ziggler was going to cash in on an edition of RAW on Alberto Del Rio. Rodriguez also revealed that Del Rio wasn’t happy with the decision.
“It was originally supposed to happen at WrestleMania(…) So we were talking about it [match] and Triple H comes in(…) It turns out that Triple H wanted, he comes in and basically says Dolph is gonna cash in after and Alberto is like no. Pretty much like no.”
Dolph Ziggler then lost the Championship to Alberto Del Rio at Payback 2013.
