The current NXT North American Champion, Dominik Mysterio, is one of WWE’s most controversial and hated superstars. Whenever he comes on the screen, a loud chant of boos echoes around the whole arena. He can always get under wrestling fans’ skins. But just when they thought Dirty Dom couldn’t stoop any lower, he did an unthinkable thing nobody could believe.
On the latest episode of SmackDown, rising luchador Dragon Lee was fighting with his arch-rival Santos Escobar in an 8-man United States Title tournament. Before the match started, Dom came out at ringside to watch the match, indirectly supporting Escobar. Lee put in a great effort to win the match. However, in the end, Escobar was just too much for him, and he lost the match. After the match, Dominik came into the ring and stood over a battered Lee. Then he spat on him, leaving fans shocked and disgusted.
Dominik and Lee have a personal rivalry, stemming from Rey Mysterio choosing Lee over Dom as his successor. Initially, Wes Lee was to face Dom for the title at NXT: Deadline after defeating three former champions in a Fatal 4-way match. However, he was replaced by Dragon due to a back surgery that sidelined him for eight to 12 months.
Dom’s father Rey will be supporting Lee, as he and Dom had a very good past and even had a match at WrestleMania. Since then, their paths have not crossed. It will be interesting to see if Dragon Lee defeats Dominik and becomes the new NXT North American Champion.
Randy Orton praised Dominik Mysterio during a podcast
Randy Orton made his fantastic return at Survivor Series after 18 long months. Without any time wasted, he wrestled Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio on Monday Night Raw for attacking him from behind during the start of the show. Orton won the match, but he was still impressed with Dirty Dom.
The Viper was a guest on the Impaulsive podcast of Logan Paul, where he praised Dominik for the work; he is putting for his heel character and being successful in drawing heat from the fans. When Orton first met him, he felt Dom was not yet ready for WWE, but he was impressed by how quickly he jelled up in this business. The 43-year-old said he wanted to make his dear friend Rey Mysterio proud.
Rey took care of me back in the day, and I wrestled Dom last week on Raw, but it was such a pleasure to be out there with him and just to get to be out there knowing like oh my god, your dads at home watching, and I want to make your dad proud. It was such a great feeling. I am so proud of Dom.Randy Orton on Dominik Mysterio via Impaulsive podcast
