“Looked pretty stupid,” Former World Champion brutally mocks CM Punk’s wrestling gear for his 1st WWE match in nearly a decade

Drew McIntyre isn't a fan of CM Punk's generic black trunks.

The version of Drew McIntyre fans are currently witnessing is quite acerbic. Adding yet another feather to his cap, McIntyre recently took a tantalizing shot at CM Punk. The latter, who, in a major coup on Tuesday, upended Dominik Mysterio in his first WWE match since 2014, amassed criticism around his wrestling gear. Drew didn’t tread lightly and implicitly stated that Punk looked stupid in those plain black trunks.

Days before wrestling at The Garden, The Best in the World gave a little sneak peek into his wrestling accoutrements. With what he initially posted on Instagram, he was supposed to wrestle in long tights, the way he used to compete in AEW. However, a last-minute clothing fiasco relegated Punk to going with generic trunks. Though most of the fans didn’t moan about it, McIntyre did not let that one pass through.

Both McIntyre and Punk had a stiff backstage confrontation a few weeks ago on Raw. The Scottish Warrior looked dead into Punk’s eyes and exuded scorn. In one of his Raw promos, Drew indirectly bashed the WWE Universe for welcoming back Punk with open arms despite years of slandering by The Second City Saint. By the looks of it, the two men are destined to meet inside the squared circle somewhere down the road.

And he seems to have forgotten his gear, he was wrestling in under tights, so looked pretty stupid.

CM Punk’s MSG return match splintered a bunch of records. First and foremost, a sold-out venue paved the way for the December 26 live event being the largest WWE gate for a non-televised show. And the authorities of The World’s Most Famous Arena bestowed a special gift on Punk. It included a plaque depicting the Chicago-based wrestler’s WWE in-ring return.

What will be CM Punk’s next WWE match?

The fans do not have to wait any longer for CM Punk’s next match. Having said that, he’ll once again meet Dominik Mysterio at Saturday’s live event in Inglewood. The rematch will be witnessed by over 13,000 fans in attendance, yet another feat for WWE on their ongoing holiday tour.

After wrapping up his commitments by this weekend, Punk will usher in the new year with a lot at stake. He’ll return to Raw on the January 8th edition in Portland. In addition to this, he’ll stop by on the final red brand taping before the Royal Rumble.

Just so everyone knows, The Voice of the Voiceless has already declared for the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match. And as he made it clear in his post-match promo at MSG, he’s going to finish what he started—that’s to headline WrestleMania.
