The road to WrestleMania is about to start with the Royal Rumble around the corner. It seems the two-time World Champion, Drew McIntyre, is pumped up with aggression to once again reclaim his glory. Willing to go to all lengths, he looks avowed to clear any foes, even if it’s The Best in the World, CM Punk.
The Scottish Warrior recently appeared in an interview with ReviewSTL. He not only touched on his goals for the upcoming PLE but even reflected on his promos against the leading names on Raw. He’d go on to point to The Second City Saint and speak about how he would not only crack him verbally but even physically if the situation demanded.
"CM Punk is the most controversial guy in wrestling, for sure. I’m going to keep prodding at him and see if he cracks. Hopefully, if he doesn’t, he gets in the ring with me and I’ll physically crack him. Easy peasy."Drew McIntyre on CM Punk
The Chosen One reflected on how he has been locking horns with the top stars for the past few weeks. He admitted how Punk has become the crowd favorite and beams with positivity, and it’s this demeanor that McIntyre wishes to test. His latest victim of a seething banter was the American Nightmare.
At this point, The Scottish Warrior is filled with internal conflicts. While he resists the urge to tap into his darker side, he has also acknowledged the need to sit at the top of the mountain. He’ll go loggerheads with Senor Money in the Bank, Damian Priest, on the go-home episode of Raw.
Bully Ray critiques the latest booking of Drew McIntyre
WWE segments undergo a lot of scrutiny by veterans who’ve spent decades in the business. One of them is WWE Hall of Famer, Bully Ray, who recently sat on the Busted Open Radio. He quoted Cody Rhodes‘ word “whine” to describe how McIntyre behaved in his latest promo.
"I don’t want to see a 6’5 bad mother trucker who looks like he could just walk through you whine."Bully Ray on Drew McIntyre
As can be inferred, the multi-time Tag Team Champion looks concerned about the portrayal of The Scottish Warrior. For someone looking as dominant as Drew, he believes being in the role of a complainer diminishes his top-star aura.
He also acknowledged good booking over how McIntyre not only kick-started the show but also finished it. However, he still seems a bit irate over the uncertainty that looms over the 38-year-old Superstar’s booking. Time will tell how the Royal Rumble season will turn out for the former WWE Champion.
