The Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre is on a dream run now in WWE. Drew has been one of the most loved babyfaces since the start of 2020. He went on to capture the WWE Championship, winning the Royal Rumble, and even represented the company throughout the pandemic. With that audience’s support, McIntyre recently turned heel and is still getting praised by the fans while feeling content.
During an interview on ReviewSTL, Drew stated that his current persona is the most compelling up to this point. McIntyre is loving the approach with which he is telling the story, even on the three-hour episodes of Raw. He subtly stated that his motivation for upping his game has come from his roster mates, who are killing it right now. Whether it be the in-ring performance or their mic presence, everything is unique there.
But when it comes to their weekly contest, Drew prefers competition with himself. McIntyre thus states that he can never be number one, as he always looks to improve on his current position. The Scottish Warrior also enjoys the fact that the roster is putting in the hard work to make the three-hour show not feel boring.
For me, personally, this is the most compelling character-wise I’ve felt in a very long time because of the different approach we’re taking telling stories, which is to make it as real as possible because if it’s real to the superstar, they’re feeling it, and the audience will be with them.Drew McIntyre via ReviewSTL
The heel character is being built around his constant efforts to win the World Heavyweight Championship. His first shot at Crown Jewel was not enough for him to put down The Visionary Seth Rollins. On Raw Day 1, McIntyre was so close to winning the championship if Damian Priest had not intervened. He now looks forward to winning the Royal Rumble 2024 to have another WrestleMania moment, this time in front of the WWE Universe.
Drew McIntyre wants to win his third world championship, this time for himself
In the same interview, Drew McIntyre was asked how important it is for him to win the World Heavyweight Championship. The Scottish Warrior thus mentioned that strong competition is fulfilling his dream as Cody Rhodes and CM Punk stand in his way. But all those considered, Drew sees his story to matter the most as a massive callback will go back to his first title reign back in 2020.
McIntyre recalled the contrast between winning the Royal Rumble 2020 in front of 40,000 people, and then winning the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar in front of 0 audience. He then held the championship throughout the pandemic and entertained the WWE Universe. With two title reigns in that period, he is proud of representing the company and winning fans’ hearts.
Win that Royal Rumble again to get that title match and then this time at WrestleMania, finally get a title, a world title, in front of live fans. So, I can actually take it home to my family back in Scotland who sacrificed so much with me being gone for 16 years.Drew McIntyre via ReviewSTL
But this time he wants to repeat the sequence and emerge victorious at Royal Rumble 2024 and WrestleMania 40. Once he captures the title, he will fly back to Scotland and show his family the actual result of his and their sacrifices.
