Drew McIntyre returned to WWE at Money in the Bank after a long hiatus due to his injury. During his absence, there have been various rumors that McIntyre’s WWE contract was about to expire and that he would leave the company. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, he shed light on those rumors and speculations.

The Scottish Warrior said that he enjoyed his time away from in-ring action. Speaking about the various rumors that were circulating during his absence, Drew McIntyre said that a few of them might be true. However, he stated that it was nice to see people buzzing all about him during his hiatus.

The 38-year-old did not clearly mention whether he was actually intending to leave the Stamford-based promotion. He implicitly said that some of those rumors might have been true. “There might have been some smoke and fire with a few of them, but it was nice people were talking about me when I wasn’t there,” he said.

Furthermore, while speaking with TNZ Sports, he said that he enjoyed his time with his family during his hiatus. He was glad about the fact that he did not require rehab, and therefore, he enjoyed his time, working on some outside projects. It can be said that the former WWE Champion had an amazing time during his break from WWE.

Upon his return, he ignited a feud with Intercontinental Champion Gunther, making their rivalry an interesting one to watch. McIntyre will face the Ring General at SummerSlam this year. There have also been rumors of the Scottish Warrior turning heel this year, which will be interesting to watch.

However, his babyface character has started to lose luster. Therefore, there has been a discussion backstage regarding his heel turn. The Wrestling Blog recently tweeted and wrote that WWE is planning to turn McIntyre heel later this year.

The Wrestling Blog also reported that there will be a second match between Drew and Gunther after SummerSlam. It is noteworthy to mention that McIntyre has dominated the roster during his heel run. It will be interesting to see what transpires at the Biggest Party of The Summer.
