As of a few hours ago, the sister-in-law of Drew McIntyre has passed away. This came out as an absolute nerve-numbing news for the McIntyre family. Needless to say, the sudden demise would’ve affected Drew’s wife Kaitlyn Frohnapfel the most. Actually, she herself announced the painful mourning of her sister through her Facebook page.
Amidst the contractual disputes between WWE & McIntyre, this news will make the matters even worse. There’s no certain timeframe for The Scottish Warrior’s television return. During this year’s Draft, the former WWE Champion was drafted to Monday Night Raw. However, despite healed up completely, he’s yet to show his face on the red brand.
It was recently revealed that McIntyre’s return is more of a ‘creative’ issue rather than any medical one. For the unversed, he still has a good amount of months left on his current deal with WWE. Also, if needed, the promotion can further add injury time, for which the Scotland native was unable to compete.
There was a hot rumor going on social media regarding McIntyre’s potential AEW jump this summer. With the official announcement of All In at Wembley Stadium, fans were quick to speculate that the 37-year-old can possibly debut there. However, it’s not possible on a legal basis. McIntyre’s still very well within a WWE contract, preventing him from going elsewhere anytime soon.
When did Drew McIntyre last competed in WWE?

It’s almost a couple of months since McIntyre’s last WWE match. At WrestleMania 39, he was involved in a triple-threat match against Sheamus and Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship. Despite fighting his heart out, The Scottish Warrior came up short. After the match, McIntyre & Sheamus shared a moment and hugged it out.
Shortly after, Drew even teased his WWE departure on Twitter putting out a bye emoji. That hasn’t happened yet but he’s yet to return either. A while ago, Xero News revealed that there’s a pitch to turn McIntyre heel once again. Following that, he’ll feud with Seth Rollins over the new World Heavyweight Championship throughout the summer.
One thing that would’ve been aching the former Psychopath is the fact he never became a World Champion in front of actual fans. Allegedly, WWE promised to reward him that moment following his phenomenal work during the Thunderdome Era. Despite such claims, his stock tumbled and he never actually had such run after 2021.
