“I wanted a match, it’s unfortunate it won’t happen”- Drew McIntyre reveals how badly he wanted to wrestle Triple H at Wrestlemania

Drew McIntyre always wanted to share the ring with Triple H.

How many times have we seen Triple H selflessly putting over a younger talent at Wrestlemania? The answer is – multiple times. We just can’t count on the legacy he had during his active period in WWE. Every younger superstar usually have someone who have been on the top on their wish-list with whom he/she wanna share the ring atleast once in their careers. Current WWE superstar Drew McIntyre is one among them.

He recently revealed during an interview with Alex McCarthy of talksport.com that he did everything in his power to get himself a match with Hunter at the Showcase of the immortals. He even personally asked Triple H if they can hang out in front of that atmosphere but never could reach a conclusive result.

“I pitched at every opportunity I could,” Drew McIntyre said. “How about us at WrestleMania? ‘What’s the story?’ [Triple H said] and I’d say ‘What’s the story? We’ll figure it out, but what about you and me at WrestleMania?!’ How awesome would that be? We got in the ring together a few times during my first run but when I returned, we did do a match in Japan that was really cool. We got in the ring together, we didn’t have anything in mind and we just went for it. It was cool to go back and forth a little bit and you understand just how good he is, what a ring general he is.”

Checking upon the record list, Triple H has competed in a total of 24 matches at Wrestlemania and has surprisingly lost 10 of them. The most recent examples were losing to Seth Rollins at Mania’33 and then losing a mixed tag- match against Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania 34.

In what can be counted as an irony but his match with his former Evolution member Batista proved to be his last WWE televised match ever. The irony lied in that fact that even though Hunter went to win against Batista which saved his in- ring career as part of the stipulation of that highly personal bout, that proved to be his last WWE match ever.
