A boy named Adam, who took Bret Hart’s advice by heart back in 1992, later went on to become one of the greatest wrestlers in the form of Edge. And after this week’s SmackDown, everyone can proudly say, “Thank you, Edge!” He celebrated his 25th WWE anniversary in some fashion. In his last contracted match with WWE, Edge battled Sheamus and eventually emerged victorious after a grueling slugfest.
In a showdown that had the fans on tenterhooks, both men pulled out every stop to deliver a classic. As Edge executed a mid-air spear on The Celtic Warrior, Beth Phoenix, who was sitting at ringside, took a sigh of relief as her husband got the job done. Soon after that, the show went off-air. However, a video footage has now surfaced showing what transpired after the cameras stopped rolling.
Edge grabbed the microphone to address his hometown crowd in Toronto. Unfortunately, he had to break it to everyone. The Rated-R Superstar said that whatever the sold-out place witnessed last night was his last showing in front of them. As soon as Edge uttered that line, the Scotiabank Arena rained heavy boos over the said fact. Of course, everyone knew it was coming, but no one was ready to accept the truth.
The WWE Hall of Famer thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart before closing out his emotional address. Last year, when WWE was in town for Monday Night Raw, the 11-time World Champion had already publicized his intentions, and that’s exactly what he did on SmackDown.
No smoke and mirrors, just sticking to his own words. He always wanted to wrap up in front of his own people. That said, Edge’s illustrious run with WWE seems to have really come to an end.

Has Edge actually wrestled his last match for WWE?
As he said earlier this week on ET Canada, his showdown with Sheamus was the final commitment he made to WWE as per his contract. However, it’s really hard to believe he’s hanging up his boots for good. Though he’s nearing his 50s, Edge has proved over and over again that he’s ridiculously better in that ring than he was back in the day.
However, it’s way more draining than it looks on television. Especially because the Master Manipulator makes it seem like nothing. Edge has lived his second WWE run to its fullest and won’t ever feel bummed for having a forceful retirement. He didn’t come back to win titles. Instead, he wanted to help the current crop of talent, and he did adhere to his promise.
But what if he wants to end his career with someone he’s been with his whole life? Yes, that’s Christian. With AEW All In coming up at Wembley Stadium, Tony Khan has promised that the show will be the biggest in AEW’s history. If Edge does want to retire alongside his best friend, he might jump to AEW. However, it’s highly unlikely.
