“We were never supposed to”- Edge shares about his current relationship with his Former Tag Team Partner
Edge in WWE
WWE Superstar Edge is making the most of his second tenure with the company. Edge returned to WWE after a nine-year absence and was fortunate to perform again after being forced to retire in 2011 due to a life-threatening ailment. When the Rated R Superstar announced his retirement in 2011, he had already accomplished everything and had gained legendary status. Former World Champion Christian Cage, his childhood closest friend, inducted him into the Hall of Fame in 2012. Since his return to WWE, Edge has won the Royal Rumble 2021 but has failed to win any Championship.
Early this year, Edge was involved in a feud with The Miz and faced him in a mixed tag match at the Royal Rumble, where he teamed up with his real-life wife Beth Phoenix for the first time, with Beth calling it a dream come true. Thereafter he was involved in a feud with AJ Styles during which he formed the Judgment Day faction. As a part of Judgment Day, he participated in a six-person tag match at Hell in a Cell and defeated AJ Styles, Finn Balor and Liv Morgan at the event.
He was brutally beaten and ousted from the group by the members, the next day when Balor was unveiled to be the new member of the group. Since then, he has returned and is in an ongoing feud with Finn Balor, Damien Priest and Rhea Ripley.

Edge and Christian Cage shared the ring in 2021
Edge and Christian Cage are Childhood best friends and when Cage entered the WWE in 1998, they both formed a Tag Team and have gone on to become one of the greatest Tag Teams in WWE history. They are one of the most decorated tag teams of all time. E & C have held the tag team Championship seven times and have established the standard for tag team competition.
Cage retired in 2014 due to concussion issues but returned to wrestle in 2020. He joined WWE in 2020 and wrestled his first match in over six years against Randy Orton in the WWE. Thereafter Cage participated in the Royal Rumble 2021, during which he hugged Edge after the latter’s entry at the Rumble, a moment which was cherished by fans all over the world. Cage was eliminated by Seth Rollins and Edge won the event by last eliminating Randy Orton.
Recently, during an interview with Bleacher Report, Edge discussed about his current relationship with Cage. Edge said that Christian and him are having a blast and that he just spoke with Christian today. He stated that they both are taking a huge pride in wrestling and contributing to their respective companies again, as they both were never supposed to wrestle again.
“We’re both having a blast, man, I just talked to him today and the fact that we’re both back doing this when we were never supposed to, and feel like we’re contributing too, that’s huge for us because we take pride in what we do.”
Edge will face Damien Priest on RAW this week in his hometown at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
