Recently, Edge made his return on SmackDown after being away from television for a few weeks. The Rated-R superstar said that he doesn’t want to miss an opportunity to wrestle in his hometown this Friday. The next episode of SmackDown will air live from Toronto and it will also be Edge’s 25th anniversary.

There have been reports surfacing that it will be Edge’s retirement match in his hometown next Friday, where he will face Sheamus. Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio reported that Ron Hutchinson, Edge’s trainer, has confirmed that the Hall of Famer will wrestle his final match on SmackDown this week.

Last year, the Rated-R superstar revealed that he wants to retire in his hometown of Toronto. On last week’s SmackDown, Edge returned to the Blue Brand and expressed his desire to wrestle against Sheamus on his 25th anniversary. The Hall of Famer revealed that the Celtic Warrior was the one who helped him return to the ring in 2020.

Edge and Sheamus never crossed paths, despite being in WWE for a long time. It will be an anticipated match as the two superstars share a beautiful bond together. Their friendship has played a significant role in the return of the Rated-R superstar. It will be interesting to see whether Edge actually hangs up his boots on his 25th anniversary.

Moreover, Beth wrote that she wants Edge to finally see how much fans adore him. She also called the Hall of Famer an iconic performer and an incredible human being. Phoenix penned a heartfelt message for her husband on an Instagram post.

The Rated-R superstar is all set to face the former World Champion, Sheamus, on the upcoming SmackDown. The Ultimate Opportunist has had an incredible career in WWE. His magnificent return to the company in the Royal Rumble 2020 was perhaps one of the best returns in the history of WWE.

The idea behind his return was to retire on his own terms, unlike being forced to hang up his boots due to injuries.
