Adam Copeland, better known as Edge, is now officially “All Elite” as he made his shocking debut at AEW this week on WrestleDream. As a result, there has been a whirlwind of reactions following his jump to WWE’s rival promotion. While many fans had sanguine thoughts about it, others felt that he had betrayed the Stamford-based promotion.

Edge’s recent revelation about backstage happenings in WWE following his debut at All Elite Wrestling has shocked many. Rumors of his AEW debut were rampant, fueled by the expectation that he would transition from WWE to AEW after his contract expired.

Edge’s departure from WWE bewildered many hardcore fans who couldn’t understand why he would leave the company that shaped his wrestling career. His exit stirred up bitterness among some fans, making Edge a central target of wrestling tribalism.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, the 49-year-old revealed WWE’s reaction to his departure. Detailing the reaction of WWE staff and colleagues, Edge said, “And I guarantee you this–they’re not mad. I’m not mad. I’ve received so many texts from the office, from the travel department, from the talent relations department, from the music department, from the performers, from the big suits, and none of them are mad. They’re happy for me. And I’m happy.”

Edge assured that he is not on bad terms with WWE. He further revealed that a lot of WWE staff reached out to him to send their good wishes for his new journey. He believes that both parties are happy for each other. WWE executed a pitch-perfect sendoff match for the Rated R superstar in his hometown of Toronto. The company celebrated its 25th anniversary in the best possible way.

October 2, 2023, would be a day to be remembered in the history of AEW. The Jacksonville-based promotion had its best night at the inaugural pay-per-view, WrestleDream. Undeniably, the highlight of the night is the debut of the Rated-R superstar, Adam Copeland, in the main event of the show. Nonetheless, Edge’s arrival in AEW essentially opens the door for him to wrestle NJPW wrestlers.

AEW’s long-standing collaboration with NJPW allows the wrestlers of both promotions to feature in one another’s PPV. Being an All-Elite, Edge vocalized his excitement to wrestle in the Tokyo Dome. The Rated R superstar admitted that he has never wrestled at Wrestle Kingdom or ever faced Kazuchika Okada or Kenny Omega. Moreover, he elaborated that AEW endows him with the opportunity to face some of the best wrestlers across the globe.

Listing out some of his dream opponents in AEW, Edge said, “How about Jon Moxley? Hell yeah. A singles match in AEW against Bryan Danielson? Miro? Claudio Castagnoli? Kenny Omega? Will Ospreay? Adam Page? Chris Jericho? Malakai Black? FTR in a tag? Teaming with Darby against the Young Bucks? Facing Darby? Facing Sting? A promo battle with Eddie Kingston? The possibilities, they’re keeping me awake at night.”
