There were palpable murmurings about how Adam Copeland, better known as Edge, should hang up his boots. Some thought that he would stay loyal to WWE and retire there. However, he did the best thing in his interest and chose to be loyal to his best friend, Christian. They’ve been together for the last 40 years, and if that’s not something that would’ve tempted Edge to jump ship to AEW, nothing could have.

The WWE Hall of Famer talked in depth about his decision to choose All Elite Wrestling for what is going to be his final pump. Speaking to CBS Sports, the 49-year-old recalled sitting with his girls, Lyric and Ruby. He left it to his daughters to decide what their father should do. Eventually, they told their dad to have fun and go be with Uncle Jay (Christian). That sparked a big fire, and The Rated-R Superstar took it by heart.

“I sat down with my girls and I’m like, ‘OK, so what does dad do, girls?’ What do I do? And I laid out the scenarios for them. Lyric said it and then Ruby agreed, ‘Go be with Uncle Jay and have fun,” said Edge. Later, he once again relayed that he was still having a blast out there in WWE. However, ending his career with his longtime best friend Christian is something the Rated-R superstar has longed for.

Adam Copeland, known as Edge, made a notable debut at WrestleDream by initially suggesting an alliance with Christian, only to surprise everyone by attacking Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus, signaling his solo intentions in the ring.

Edge describes how it felt like on his final night in WWE

Back on August 25 on SmackDown, Edge wrestled Sheamus in his final WWE match. It was a physical tussle between two great veterans that went down to the wire. Eventually, the Hall of Famer prevailed after a wicked spear. In the same interview as above, Edge recounted that special night of his career.

“Honestly, that Toronto show was a send-off of that character and it was the perfect way for that character to go out. Wrestling a guy that I’ve never wrestled that I always wanted to. It was just so much fun in there. That night, I’ll never forget it,” he said.

Reportedly, the WWE reception to Edge’s AEW switch has been positive, and they wish the best to someone who’s given it all to the Stamford-based promotion. Moreover, though it’s unlikely that Edge will have another run in WWE, the promotion would be happy to welcome him back.
