Elimination Chamber is one of the popular premium live events in WWE. The unforgiving structure which stands nearly 16ft. tall and weighs about 10 tonnes is made up of steel bars which are designed to contain the 6 men inside the chamber for the match. The premium live event has been named after the match and has been a regular feature since 2010.
The event is the last roadblock in The Road to WrestleMania and gives the competitors one last opportunity to grab the title before the grandest event in the company. WWE has now officially announced the date, time and venue for Elimination Chamber 2023.
The event will be the last one before WrestleMania 39 which will take place at The SoFi Stadium, LA, Hollywood. The company posted the official announcement on Twitter and wrote- “#WWEChamber heads to Montreal’s @BellCentre on February 18, 2023!”.Thus it’s officially confirmed that The Elimination Chamber 2023 will take place at The Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada on February 18th.
This marks the return of a premium live event to Montreal after a hiatus of 14 years as the city last hosted a special event in 2009 which was Breaking Point. And this will also be WWE’s premium live event in Canada after 4 years as the last event held at the country was SummerSlam in 2019.
The event has been special for major title changes and defences over the past number of years. Over the years the event has seen a paradigm shift as there was a time when another WWE PLE Fastlane was introduced and the event got shifted in May instead of being held in February. But from 2017, the event returned back to its original slot.
2018 saw women competing in an Elimination Chamber match for the first time which was a landmark event in the evolution of women’s wrestling in WWE. Though over the period of time the cage has been made less cylindrical and the steel mesh on the sides have been replaced by the wooden boards it still involves the same amount of risk as earlier.

2023 will Mark The End of Elimination Chamber as a Premium Live Event

Multiple reports have suggested that WWE is looking to bring a massive change in its premium live events from the next year and it mentions some premium live events being cancelled and being replaced by the old school premium live events.
The reports had also suggested that the company is looking to reduce overall PLE’s in the year to allow better storytelling and character development. Thus, The Elimination Chamber would be replaced by the old school No-Way Out PLE, if sources are to be believed. The change will come into effect from 2024 as informed by various reports.
