Emma, a.k.a. Tenille Dashwood, made her much-anticipated return to WWE late last year in the October 28th edition of SmackDown. Ronda Rousey made an open challenge for her SmackDown Women’s Championship. And to everyone’s shock, it was answered by Emma. She had lost her Impact Knockouts Tag Team Title in June and let her contract expire with the company. According to multiple reports, she has been a free agent since August.

In a recent episode of “Out of Character with Ryan Satin,” Emma expressed her candid views on her WWE comeback. During the conversation, she also revealed her ultimate goal in the company. As no surprise, she wants to win a major title in the Women’s Division, which has eluded her throughout her whole WWE career.

“I have actually never held a title in WWE believe it or not. When it does happen, it’ll be that much better, right? Yeah, so, that definitely is a long, a goal of mine to be the women’s champion in WWE. I mean, that would definitely be the ultimate goal, but I am happy to work myself up to that.”

Emma has indeed been far from the main event scene in the WWE. She was a big star and a pioneer of the women’s revolution in NXT. In its early days, Emma made it to the finals of the tournament to crown the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion. But she lost to Paige in that match and has rarely come close to the title ever since.

On the main roster, she didn’t even get a chance to fight for the gold in a singles match. She got her only title match for the Divas Championship at WrestleMania 30 when AJ Lee defended it against the whole roster. Apart from that, she had a new gimmick on the horizon as Emmalina, but the plans were scrapped and she returned as Emma again. Her last match was against Asuka on an episode of Raw in October 2017, after which WWE released her.

Emma’s Journey to Her Return

Outside of WWE, Emma fought under her real name, Tenille Dashwood. She was a major star in Impact Wrestling and fought multiple times for the Impact Knockouts Championship. Her first title win was the Impact Knockouts Tag Team Championship. Tenille won that with her tag team partner Madison Rayne, who defeated The IInspiration, former IIconics in WWE. The Influence (Dashwood and Rayne) held the title for more than 100 days before dropping it to Rosemary and Taya Valkyrie.

Emma was last seen involved in an angle between her real-life boyfriend, Madcap Moss, and Karion Kross. She is expected to go into a feud with Kross’ clairvoyant Scarlett in the future. But her return as a challenger for the title held by one of the biggest stars in WWE, Ronda Rousey, is a huge positive for the things to come. It might not be long before Emma finally gets to hold singles gold for the first time in her pro wrestling career.
