Akira Tozawa has become a prominent feature on Monday Night Raw. Since joining the Alpha Academy, he has wrestled in several matches and delivered a few hilarious backstage segments as well. On the most recent edition, Tozawa challenged Ivar, wanting to prove his worth on the Red brand.
Despite a valiant effort by Akira, The Viking Raiders member emerged victorious against the 38-year-old. During the match, the former knocked his opponent out with a vicious-looking kick to the head. Moreover, the live crowd gasped in shock while Tozawa was laid out.
Fortunately, the pair was able to finish off the bout. Both superstars performed some impressive maneuvers throughout the battle. As always, Ivar continued to flourish under this new singles run on the main roster. Meanwhile, Akira Tozawa showed why he is one of the most underappreciated stars in the WWE.
After the match, Ivar seemingly demanded a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Last week, Adam Pearce hinted at the possibility of a #1 contender match in the near future. Furthermore, the likes of Ricochet and Chad Gable are also waiting for the Ring General, Gunther. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how the mid-card scene on Raw shapes up ahead of the road to WrestleMania.
WWE fans react to Ivar’s vicious kick to Akira Tozawa
Without a doubt, Ivar is one of the most destructive superstars in WWE. On the latest episode of Raw, The Viking Raiders member delivered a brutal kick to the head to Akira Tozawa. As a result, the WWE Universe reacted to the move, expressing their concern for the 38-year-old star.
While many were concerned for Tozawa, others pointed out how he is used to the ‘Japanese style’ of wrestling. Furthermore, a fan pointed out Maxxine Dupri‘s reaction at ringside. Also, one member of the WWE Universe was impressed with how Ivar has improved in the ring.
Needless to say, occurrences such as this aren’t unusual in professional wrestling. However, they can end up being career-ending maneuvers if done wrong. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case on the recent episode of Monday Night Raw. It will be interesting to see whether WWE plays this as an angle for a new rivalry.
