WWE held a tribute in the memory of Bray Wyatt on last night’s SmackDown. The show kicked off with a ten-bell salute as the roster and backstage personnel stood on stage to commemorate the legacy. Among the stars present during the emotional event were Bray’s longtime friend and former WWE superstar Erik Rowan.
Clearly, Rowan looked devastated and Braun Strowman and he shared a heartwarming hug. Fans reacted to the moment online, expressing their wishes for Rowan’s well-being. The former WWE superstar went through a similar difficult period almost three years ago after the passing of Luke Harper. In fact, he was present at the tribute episode held for the late Brodi Lee at AEW Dynamite.
Therefore, it was a kind gesture from WWE to ensure that the former Wyatt family members didn’t miss out on honoring their brother. Video packages showcasing the third-generation wrestler’s journey were depicted throughout the show. Moreover, the live audience serenaded his famous song and flashed their lights, acting as “fireflies”.
Erick Rowan debuted alongside Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper as part of The Wyatt Family in 2013. Consequently, the faction dominated on the main roster while putting on stellar matches against the likes of The Shield and The Usos. Strowman would join the group a few years later. As a result, the four became closer in real life as well.
WWE Universe reacts to Erick Rowan appearing on SmackDown to pay tribute to Bray Wyatt
WWE ensured that the legacy of Windham Rotunda, also known as Bray Wyatt, was honored. Every employee was present on stage to pay homage to the third-generation superstar. Also, the promotion invited one of Bray’s closest friends, Erick Rowan, to last night’s SmackDown.
Therefore, this marked his first appearance since his release during the pandemic in 2020. Rowan, along with another Wyatt Family brother, Braun Strowman, played integral roles in Bray Wyatt’s career. Fans felt remorse for the pair as they reacted online to the tribute show.
The Wyatt Family has lost two of its members in an interval of three years. Luke Harper unfortunately passed away in 2020, shocking the wrestling world and fans. Clearly, it has been a rough period for Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman, who mourned the loss of another brother. They were pictured together next to Bray Wyatt’s rocking chair, sharing an embrace. The legacies of their lost brothers will continue to live on.
