This afternoon, there were rumblings of a significant return on last night’s NXT per WrestleVotes. However, nothing was specified as to who that could be. On the show, just when Ridge Holland was about to say something, the lights went off. Darkness fazed, only to an extent, and a steel chair smack was heard. A masked man was the culprit, who unveiled himself as Shawn Spears.

The 43-year-old, erstwhile known as Tye Dillinger, left WWE back in February 2019. He went on to join All Elite Wrestling and had a significant feud with Cody Rhodes. So, it was ‘The Perfect 10’ after all behind those cryptic vignettes that first aired at NXT Vengeance Day. It appears like he would retain his actual name, Shawn Spears, as the NXT commentary was after it.

Spears’ better half, Cassie Lee, formerly Peyton Royce, also took to X and reacted to her husband’s WWE comeback. She called it a homecoming. Shawn’s appearance came out of nowhere, as the company did well to avert any possible leaks. Later on in the show, the former AEW Superstar revealed why he targeted Holland of all names on NXT.

The Canadian wrestler said that Ridge’s been lying to himself for far too long. Spears affirmed that the jolt of pain coursing through Holland’s body was the truth, and it can bring anyone to their knees. That’s why he has come back.

Shawn further said he’ll be there on NXT Roadblock next week. It will be interesting to see how much time The President spends on the Shawn Michaels-led brand before potentially being upgraded to the main roster.

As soon as Shawn Spears unmasked himself on NXT, the live crowd at the PC went bonkers. And, as one would expect, the discourse on social media was palpable. Numerous reactions have poured in and it appears like the 43-year-old has taken everyone by storm.

A fan pointed out how he’s continuing his AEW lineage, much like Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill. One even went on to say that returning to WWE is the best thing that has happened to him.

Fans even joked how Shawn’s entire gimmick is circled around him infamously taking out Cody Rhodes with that unprotected chair shot on his head. Some fans mocked the 43-year-old for being a misfit on NXT’s programming that predominantly pertains to the younger talent.
