“Cried so badly that day” – WWE Universe relishes the moment when Suplex City was formed for the first time

Brock Lesnar’s in-ring style consists mainly of conquering his opponents through dozens of German Suplexes. The WWE Universe has referred to this as Suplex City. The Beast has been using this maneuver since his debut in 2002. But he took it a step further at SummerSlam 2014 when he gave a display of his sheer dominance in his match against John Cena.
John Cena was undeniably the face of the company for almost ten years. Therefore, it was rare to see him lose clean, as he was one of the most protected superstars. However, in 2014, whatever transpired that night left many fans startled. The Cenation leader suffered wrath at the hands of Brock Lesnar when the latter took him to Suplex City.
The former UFC World Champion delivered 16 suplexes in the entire match, completely obliterating his opponent. The WWE Universe termed it the day “Suplex City” was born. Almost a decade after that day, the official WWE Twitter account posted a clip of the annihilation by the Beast. The caption, “The night Suplex City was founded!”, gave the fans a throwback. As a result, fans relished that moment and reacted to it.
Brock Lesnar broke The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at that year’s WrestleMania. Since then, the Beast Incarnate has been on a rampage during his matches. His dominating match against John Cena at SummerSlam 2014 catapulted his momentum. As a result, Suplex City became a recurring theme in his matches. However, some have come to criticize the repetitiveness of the move as well.
WWE Universe reacts to the night of Suplex City’s formation
Fans were left speechless during the SummerSlam 2014 main event. Brock Lesnar faced John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. What was expected to be a close encounter led to the most famous one-sided victory in the history of professional wrestling. The crowd present there didn’t know how to react as “Super Cena” got a taste of his own medicine. As WWE posted the video of it on Twitter, many fans reacted to it with various comments.
This match kicked off Brock Lesnar’s run of wearing down his opponents with consecutive suplexes, then finishing them off with the F5 or Kirmura Lock. Meanwhile, John Cena started an almost three-year period of being in the best bouts on each and every show he competed on. His most notable run came during his United States Championship reign in 2015.
