With an incredible first night of WrestleMania 39 now in the books, it was time for the Night 2 of the biggest event of the year. The expectations from the second night were at an all time high considering the astounding WrestleMania Saturday. Mania Sunday featured variety of matches as well. Following two decent matches, it was time for Gunther vs. Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre in a triple-threat bout for the Intercontinental championship.
The I.C. title match was one of the most anticipated matches with a great build. Heading into his first ever WrestleMania, Gunther had one of the greatest I.C. title reigns going on. He also raised the prestige of the Intercontinental title with consecutive quality matches during his reign. Meanwhile, Fans were expecting his best performance on the Grandest Stage.
The Ring General was set to defend his title against his toughest challenger, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre as well, in a triple-threat match. Moreover, the match was a banger, as expected form the moment the bell rang, all the way until the end. The Scottish Warrior and The Celtic Warrior pushed each other to the limits, while Gunther was performing in his usual style.
The hard-hitting encounter kept the crowd in attendance and fans watching at home, at the edge of their seats throughout it’s duration. Both Sheamus and McIntyre came so close to becoming new champion at respective intervals.
However, The Ring General overcame the odds with a top rope manuever and retained the title by pinning McIntyre in the end. The incredible battle fueled the fire into the crowd, which was anticipating an electric match following a disappointing Showcase match.
