Finn Balor took on Seth Rollins in the main event of Monday Night Raw this week in a losing effort. While Baylor was eliminated from the tournament, Rollins moved on to the finals of the World Heavyweight Championship. The finals will take place at the Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.

Balor and Rollins faced each other as the winners of their respective triple-threat matches that happened earlier in the show. This reignited their feud that took place seven years ago when they competed for the inaugural WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2016. Finn Balor won the match and went on to become the first-ever Universal Champion in WWE.

Finn Balor sustained a shoulder injury during their match at SummerSlam in 2016. He was thrown onto a barricade by Rollins, which caused his injury. Despite that, he went on to win the Universal Championship that night. The match was highly acclaimed and both wrestlers received huge praise from the WWE Universe. However, Balor had to relinquish the title immediately due to the severity of the injury.

This caused Finn Balor to be out of action for a long period of time. Moreover, he never received a chance to regain his lost title from Rollins until their match at Raw this week. Balor, therefore, made sure he took revenge on Seth Rollins. During the match, the Judgment Day member threw Rollins onto the barricade, similar to how he was thrown seven years ago. This injured the Visionary as he continued the match with a damaged limb.

However, Rollins was successfully able to put Finn Balor down for a cover after hitting a curb stomp and pinning him for the victory. As a result, he moved on to the finals of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament, which will take place at The Night of Champions on May 27. Watch the video here:

Finn Balor turned Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley against the founder of The Judgment Day, Edge, and took over the faction. They declared themselves as a better and improved version of the faction. This was the first time Balor turned heel on the main roster. Dominik Mysterio would later join The Judgment Day by betraying his father at Clash at the Castle 2022.

The Judgment Day went on to have feuds with AJ Styles, the OC, Rey Mysterio, Edge, and his wife, Beth Phoenix, over the course of a year. Finn Balor would go on to have a Hell in a Cell match with Edge at WrestleMania 39. During the match, Balor injured himself when he was hit on the head with a ladder. However, he went on to finish the match against Edge.

The heel persona of Balor was indispensable on the main roster as fans started losing interest in his babyface character. With him joining The Judgment Day, it opened endless opportunities for many matches and storylines.
