Former United States Champion savagely mocks latest AEW signee Edge aka Adam Copeland for being the last ever person to beat him in a singles match
Even though Edge has departed from WWE, he's still getting some receipts on his way out.
WWE Superstar takes a dig at Edge (via- All Elite Wrestling on X)
Ever since Edge officially arrived in All Elite Wrestling, the fanbase has been divided over what to make of that decision. Nonetheless, The Rated-R Superstar is all pumped up for his new journey, and that’s what eventually matters. Not only the fans, but a few of his former colleagues have taken shots, including Austin Theory.
A few hours ago, the former United States Champion took to X and mocked Edge. Posting a photo of the match where he beat the 11-time World Champion on Raw, Austin Theory simply tried to affirm that he’s the last ever wrestler to force the WWE HOF’er to bite the dust.
Moreover, Theory’s current tag team partner, Grayson Waller, also took a subtle jab at Adam Copeland. The Aussie Icon drew everyone’s attention to the fact that Edge did manage to get his rub on the way out of WWE. It is because the WWE Hall of Famer was Waller’s opponent on his main roster in-ring debut.
Well, both Austin and Waller were able to wrestle Edge during the Rated-R Superstar’s final year in the company. Until Theory was the US Champion, he genuinely took out multiple WWE legends during his title reign, and Edge was certainly a top 2 on that list. They had a clinical wrestling match on Raw in February.
Just when Adam Copeland thought he was about to dethrone Theory, Finn Balor arrived and attacked his then-arch-nemesis. That blow wasn’t caught by the referee, and Austin Theory stole the win from Edge. The result of that match received widespread criticism from the fans for treating a legend like Edge in such a miserable way.
Edge has explained why he left WWE for good
After doing the post-show press conference following his rapturous debut at WrestleDream, Adam Copeland took to X and addressed his decision. First of all, he thanked WWE for whatever they’ve done for him. Edge thanked WWE for the opportunities that shaped his career and personal life, including meeting his wife Beth Phoenix, and starting a family. He reassured fans upset over his departure, expressing his appreciation for the company.
He clarified that somehow he grew apart with WWE, and they just didn’t have much left for him to do. Edge respected that decision and did what was best for him, as he wanted to ride further. Talking about the fresh beginnings in AEW, he seemed excited to work with an untapped roster and many of his old friends from WWE.
Last but not least, Edge asked fans to take it as something that gives them pleasure. He promised to have the same passion every single week until he was no longer able to do it. That said, he will make his AEW in-ring debut on the October 10th edition of Dynamite where he’ll face Luchasaurus. It would be interesting to see how long before he finally gets to Christian.
