Storyline has a huge role to play in weekly wrestling shows. WWE writers shoulder major responsibilities to make sure the wrestling is worth watching. Recently, an old employee of WWE took to LinkedIn to share his thoughts about his absurd departure from the wrestling giant. Michael Leonardi, a former WWE writer, stated that the former chairman of the WWE, Vince McMahon, played a huge role in his departure.

He stated how his attempt to protect the company from a racially insensitive segment ended up costing him his job. His firing stemmed from the Martin Luther King Jr. Day episode of Raw. Leonardi handed Neville, Titus O’Neil, R-Truth, and Mark Henry the script just hours before their segment. Vince wanted Neville to take shots at Martin Luther King by referring to his “dream” of winning the Royal Rumble Match.

So, you didn't give me what I wanted? I took full responsibility for it and then he just chewed me the f**k out, pardon my french.

Neville disagreed with doing so since he was a babyface. The other three wrestlers also supported his disagreement. Therefore, Michael made some changes and had R-Truth deliver those lines to make it sound funnier and avoid any racial insensitivity. However, Vince McMahon was disappointed upon not getting the segment he desired, and fired him by saying to get the “f*ck out.”

The former employee was released in 2016. He made his return to the company in April 2015. Prior to his latest run with the company, he had another stint with the company. Michael was part of the on-air promotion department from 2001 to 2005. Judging by the huge boom in ratings in the early 2000s, Leonardi was a key figure on the WWE team.

Former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle describes working under Vince McMahon

Matt Riddle was over with the fans before his untimely exit from the WWE. Unfortunately, fans can never get the highly anticipated RK-Bro reunion since Randy Orton has returned. Riddle is currently the current NJPW World Television Champion. Often, the 38-year-old Superstar is seen performing on independent circuits following his WWE exit.

The King of Bros recently appeared in an interview with The MMA Hour. Luckily, Riddle has worked under Vince McMahon as well as his son-in-law, Triple H. Riddle described how working under the leadership of Triple H was more comfortable. He stated that everything is under control and organized. On the other hand, he described working with McMahon as “a little chaotic.”

The former United States Champion stated how Vince would deliberately change the script that was handed to them days before the show. According to him, superstars had to face issues since the show would be rewritten again and again. Therefore, it is not surprising to see how the former chairman of the board is facing backlash amid his s*x trafficking lawsuit going on.
