WWE removed Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson from the NXT roster after a single match. Signing Steveson was one of the most appreciated decisions of WWE. Back in 2021, the Stamford-based promotion signed the Olympic Gold Medalist for a multi-year deal. However, things might not have worked the way WWE wanted.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE removed Gable Steveson from the NXT roster. It is possibly an indication that there are no immediate plans for the 23-year-old. Gable wrestled his first match against Baron Corbin recently in July. It marks the only match Steveson has wrestled till date in WWE.

Gable Steveson signed with WWE just a month after winning a gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Freestyle Wrestling. He was later drafted to Monday Night Raw in the same year. Gable made a few appearances on television before sent to the Performance Center. Further, Gable resurfaced in NXT, where he had his one and only feud with Baron Corbin.

The 23-year-old was on an NIL contract with WWE. It allowed him to compete in the amateur wrestling competition for the University of Minnesota. Steveson is undeniably a talented individual, but his luck in WWE might not have worked out. However, he has a bright career in national sports.

Steveson was perhaps one of the biggest signings in WWE but his appearances have been handful. However, this year, Gable made his in ring debut at NXT Great American Bash in July. After a lackluster run, the 23-year-old was removed from the NXT roster recently.

Gable Steveson wrestled Baron Corbin in his last match. It also marked his much-awaited debut in professional wrestling. Steveson came out victorious after a grueling match. However, the WWE Universe disregarded him throughout his match as they chanted for Baron Corbin despite the latter being a heel.

Gable Steveson was removed from NXT roster list. The possible reason why he never made the cut in WWE could be his lackluster performance. Moreover, Gable was never able to make a connection with WWE Universe as well. Fans believed that WWE unnecessarily pushing to be the next Kurt Angle in the company.
