The longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion Gunther is one of the most dominant champions currently. He has faced and defeated many superstars in his 620+ days title reign. However, if one superstar gave him the run for his money during their rivalry, that was Chad Gable.
The Ring General gave an interview with Battleground Podcast and spoke about the possibility of him fighting the 37-year-old once again at WrestleMania. Although Gunther did agree there could be a chance, he also considered multiple superstars as his ideal opponent for the Show of Shows.

The Austrian praised Gable by saying he is a phenomenal athlete and fans love the in-ring chemistry between them. The 37-year-old has faced Gunther multiple times, but never succeded in gaining the pinfall or submission victory. The toughest point in Gable’s career came when Gunther defeated him to break the record of longest reining I.C. Champion of all time.
Honestly, I've got to say he's not the only one I guess. I think that he's a phenomenal athlete, he's a great technician. And the matches we had, I think, were phenomenal. And the audience enjoyed them a lot. If it should come to that for WrestleMania, yeah, I'm here for it. But we have to see. I think there are a few options in the pipeline. I don't know what's in store for Mania.Gunther on Gable being his WrestleMania opponent via Battleground Podcast
Gunther recently retained his title against Jey Uso on the latest episode of Raw with the help of his brother Jimmy. He is not scheduled to defend his title at Elimination Chamber due to visa issues. It will be interesting to see who will be his next opponent at WrestleMania.
Gunther wants his fierce rival Sheamus to stay as far away as possible from his title
Gunther and the Celtic Warrior Sheamus have had one of the best rivalries for the Intercontinental championship. Although he couldn’t win the title at that time, he is still vocal about winning the one title that has eluded him till now. However, Gunther has a completely different opinion about it.

The Ring General gave an interview on the Battleground podcast and he talked about the possibility of the Celtic Warrior getting another chance to come after his title. Although Gunther said he is always ready for the fight, he admitted that he doesn’t want Sheamus anywhere near his title. The 46-year-old has been out of action with a shoulder injury since August last year.
I’m definitely ready, but where he is right now, that’s where I like him the most — away. It’s a good place where he is, but we’ll see what happens.Gunther on Sheamus via Battleground podcast
Sheamus had two absolute classic matches with Gunther at Clash at the Castle and WrestleMania 39. Fans loved their rivalry and were rooting for him to defeat the Ring General. It will be interesting to see when he returns from the injury and challenges Gunther for the Intercontinental title again.
