Gunther is undoubtedly one of the best wrestlers in the world. The Ring General has proven why he’s a main even- caliber star courtesy of his historic Intercontinental Title reign. However, even the toughest superstars can get exhausted by constant travel and tough schedules. Recently, Gunther addressed life on the road as a WWE Superstar.
During an interview with GV Wire, the former NXT United Kingdom Champion mentioned that he barely gets time for himself as he is either in the gym or traveling. Furthermore, he said that it is personally tough for him considering he has to leave his wife and family at home and barely gets to see them.
However, he also claimed that it is a small price that he pays to give his family a good and comfortable life. Gunther highly credits his wife, Jinny, who is a former wrestler as well. Needless to say, The Ring General is currently happy with his position in his wrestling career and life.
That’s basically what it is. It’s a very tight schedule. But it’s the life of a wrestler. And that’s what I always wanted to do.Gunther (via GV Wire)
The 36-year-old star’s dedication and hard work have translated into record-breaking success. His historic 672-day reign as Intercontinental Champion secured his place among one of the most memorable title reigns, and he has given us some of the most iconic matches to remember. Most notably, his title defense against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 39. It seems very unlikely that he will drop the title any time soon.
What’s next on the Road to WrestleMania for Gunther?
Gunther’s championship reign continues to remain strong after Raw. However, controversy surrounds his victory over Jey Uso as just as Jey looked destined to become champion, his twin brother, Jimmy, interfered, ringing the bell and distracting the challenger for a match-changing pinfall.
This unorthodox win has fueled speculation of a potential WrestleMania match, with many expecting Jey to seek revenge on his twin brother. While Gunther’s grip on the title remains strong, the air crackles with the anticipation of upcoming challengers in what seems to be a never-ending title reign. On the same episode of Raw, Chad Gable gained a huge win over Ivar.
As a result, fans believe that the Alpha Academy leader may be next in line to take on The Ring General. The pair had a magnificent trilogy last year, which ended in heartbreak for Gable. It will be interesting to see what lies ahead for Gunther on the Road to WrestleMania.
