Gunther has established himself as arguably one of the best superstars in WWE. Since joining the main roster in 2022, the Ring General has proved his worth in the company, becoming the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion. Recently, the formerly known Walter revealed how his latest rivalries with The Miz and Sheamus benefited him.

During his appearance on the Busted Open Radio show, Gunther spoke in detail about his feud with the A-Lister. According to him, The Miz was the polar opposite of the opponents that he usually comes across. Moreover, the Intercontinental Champion heaped praise on the veteran, terming him an “absolute pro.”

Also, Gunther claimed that his program with Sheamus helped boost his stature in the company. Furthermore, they went a level further at WrestleMania 39 in a triple threat match that also included Drew McIntyre. As a result, many fans believe that Gunther’s rivalry with Sheamus boosted the former’s WWE career.

As for The Miz, the Awesome One is known for his mic skills and charismatic persona. However, Miz has always had his fair share of critics in terms of his in-ring abilities. Therefore, the veteran himself had a point to prove against Gunther. Needless to say, the duo fought in one of the most intense television matches of the year. Moreover, many members of the WWE Universe consider the bout one of Miz’s best in his career.

Will “Main Event” Jey Uso be the next in line to dethrone Gunther?

Gunther ended a magnificent 2023 with a convincing title defense against The Miz. On the same night, the 36-year-old revealed he was going on a well-deserved hiatus. Later, Jey Uso thwarted Gunther’s Imperium teammates, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, defeating the former in an impromptu bout as well.

While it may have been a “feel-good” match for the upcoming holiday season, fans have speculated whether this hinted towards a future program between Jey Uso and Gunther. The former is one of the few superstars on the Raw roster who hasn’t squared off against the Ring General.

Without a doubt, a rivalry between Jey and Gunther would be fascinating. Both superstars have reached main event caliber in WWE over the past couple of years. It will be interesting to see whether the UCE attempts to dethrone Gunther, who continues to be one of the most dominant superstars on the roster.
