He is one of the longest-reigning Intercontinental champions of this modern era. However, it seems like two of the most prominent superstars in this industry have their eyes set on the title.
According to the reports, Gunther will square off against two former WWE World Champions for the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 39. Ever since winning the title, the Ring General has been on a sublime reign. It appears that he might finally have worthy opponents for his championship. Besides, this week on SmackDown, five superstars would battle in a fatal five-way match to earn a shot at his title. There are many superstars on the list who are looking to end his unfathomable title reign.
Over the past few months, there have been various rumors and speculations regarding Gunther’s opponent at WrestleMania 39. According to Xero News, the former NXT UK champion would face Drew McIntyre and Sheamus at the Grandest Stage of Them All. It looks inevitable considering the storyline of the subsequent segments on the blue brand. Besides, the two superstars are also participants in the number-one contenders match at this week’s SmackDown. Therefore, it appears that the rumors are becoming a concrete reality.
Drew McIntyre and Sheamus are two of the top stars in the company. They are known to deliver classic hardcore matches against their opponents. The former NXT UK champion made his main roster debut on the April 8 edition of SmackDown last year. He has dominated the blue brand with his sheer performance and charisma. The leader of the Imperium faced Sheamus in a grueling match for his title at Clash at the Castle, which many believe to be a five-star match.
