Vince McMahon is the executive chairman of WWE and has been the head of the company for ages. He is always rigid in his decisions. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle revealed how Vince McMahon denied him a retirement match with John Cena at WrestleMania.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Angle talked about his retirement match against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania. Kurt Angle said, “I asked Vince, ‘Hey, can I have John Cena’ ‘Because I started his career. I think it’d be proper if he ended my career.’ And Vince said, ‘No, you have Baron Corbin. You’ve been doing a program with him for six months. You have to continue. But if you want Cena, you can have it next year.“
However, Vince denied his request to have a match at WrestleMania. Kurt Angle later revealed how irritated he was after seeing John Cena at WrestleMania that year, as he said, “You know how pissed I was.” Looking from the business’ point of view, Vince might have wanted to use Angle’s retirement match as a stepping stone for the next-generation superstar, Baron Corbin.
Kurt Angle also revealed the reason for his retirement at WrestleMania that year. He said, “I wasn’t me anymore. I looked like I was old.” Kurt further went on to say that he wanted Cena at WrestleMania, and Vince provided him with the option of wrestling Cena next year at WrestleMania.
The decision made by the chairman about his retirement match in WWE pissed Angle off. The Olympic gold medalist faced Baron Corbin at WrestleMania and bid a final farewell to the squared circle.
Vince McMahon doesn’t change his decisions based on his competition

WWE’s executive chairman, Vince McMahon, is known to be less caring about others. Recently, former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz revealed that Vince doesn’t care much about AEW’s success. He also stated that this had happened earlier, during the time of WCW. Vince focuses on his shows, and he focuses less on the competition.
Brian Gewirtz was involved in an interview with WrestlingNewsCo. He stated, “I really don’t think he cares. I really don’t.” He went on to say that Vince follows his path and doesn’t care about others.
AEW had its biggest event of all time recently at Wembley Stadium. They broke records and made some as well. AEW is a successful company and has been a prominent competitor to WWE. It will be interesting to see if the perception of Vince McMahon changes in the future regarding All Elite Wrestling.
