“That’s who I compare him to”- Booker T compares Happy Corbin to WWE Hall of Famer

Booker T and Happy Corbin

Happy Corbin is one of the best heels on the current WWE roster today. He gets all the boos from the audience, thanks to his incredible work as a heel in the company. Happy Corbin made his WWE debut on the NXT Brand in 2014 and wrestled on the brand until 2016. He made his main roster debut in 2016 on RAW Brand and has established himself as one of the popular WWE Superstars of the current generation. Corbin has been loved and praised for his character work and is a decent worker in the ring.

Happy Corbin is a one-time United States Champion and has won the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal once in 2016. He has been the winner of the King of the Tournament in 2019 and has also won the Money in the Bank Ladder match in 2017, which he failed to cash in and lost the contract. Recently, Corbin was involved in a rivalry with his Indianapolis Colts teammate Pat McAfee and both went on to have a bout against each other at SummerSlam. McAfee defeated Happy Corbin at the event.

During the recent edition of the Hall of Famer Podcast, Booker T compared Happy Corbin’s heel turn to that of WWE Hall of Famer JBL. John Bradshaw Layfield was never a face in his career and his work as a heel during his individual longest championship reign was some of his best work in the company. JBL, according to Booker T, won’t be known for anything other than the “clothesline from hell.” According to Booker T, if JBL had been on the roster, the internet would have likely detested him. He said that JBL turned the audience against him and forced them to purchase tickets so they could heckle him.

“He’s like JBL, man. That’s who I compare him to. I compare him to JBL because JBL is a guy who you’re not going to remember a whole lot of moves other than that Clothesline from Hell. But John Bradshaw Layfield, if he worked today on the roster, the internet world would probably hate him, but he would literally be the most over heel this business has ever seen because he can work. That’s all he needed to do was just know to work, beat guys up and go out and make fans feel enough to go in their pocket and buy a ticket to come and boo him out of the building.”

During an interview with Yahoo Sport, Happy Corbin discussed his WWE evolution in his talk, saying that he likes seeing himself develop as a performer and that very few men have a single character that they remain with. Corbin claimed that John Cena also ironed out a few kinks and built a babyface, which helped him find success and become who he is now. Roman also adopted a new character in the organization, according to Corbin. Kane, Undertaker, and Seth Rollins have evolved, which is a testament to talent, according to Corbin, who claimed that aside from John and Roman reigns, not many have changed to stay relevant.
