The 1980s were one of the most unhinged periods in professional wrestling. While the business was rising to today’s level, there was a lot of chaos backstage. Recently, Hulk Hogan detailed the time he was threatened and almost killed by Harley Race with a gun backstage.
While speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the WWE legend relived the scary moment. He mentioned that there had been a show in Kansas City for almost two months. During that time, Harley was the NWA champion, having competed for the promotion for 18 years. The Hulkster claimed that he was warned by his team as soon as he reached Kemper Arena.
“They told me Harley said when I show up, he’s gonna kill you. I had to go to the bathroom and my stomach was killing me,” said Hulk Hogan. Afterwards, Davey Boy Smith came up to him and frantically told him that Harley Race was coming to kill the WWF Champion at the time.
Instantly, Hogan turned around the corner to see the Hall of Famer put a gun to his face. “I should kill you for coming in and doing this,” warned Harley. Afterwards, he put his gun down and revealed to the Hulkster that he wanted a job. Finally, the 70-year-old claimed that he shook Harley’s hand and that he “loved the guy anyway.”
MJF takes subtle dig at Hulk Hogan after AEW All In

AEW All In was one of the most successful professional wrestling events of all time. The promotion’s World Champion, MJF, had a perfect evening, pulling double duty on the show. He won the ROH tag titles with his best friend, Adam Cole, and defeated the latter in the main event. Afterwards, the Devil posted a hilarious message on his X account, mocking Hulk Hogan.
“I’ll never forget the night I wrestled in front of 81 million Devil worshipers, Brother,” wrote a sarcastic MJF. Clearly, this was a reference to Hogan being called out by fans for lying in interviews. “When I walked to the back the king of England told me I was the greatest AEW champion of all time and he knighted me on the spot,” further added the 27-year-old. After the closing moments of the show, it will be interesting to see how the friendship between Cole and MJF plays out.
