Edge has everyone on tenterhooks about his future. A few weeks ago on SmackDown, he wrestled Sheamus in his last contracted WWE match. It was fitting that the bout took place in Toronto, and that’s what the Rated-R Superstar wanted to do. Nonetheless, the question remains unanswered regarding his upcoming ventures. However, this week’s SmackDown had Edge in its intro.
It is noteworthy that WWE revamped the intro package, and they particularly included Edge for this purpose. It has caused an obvious buzz in the WWE Universe. A recent report from Ringside News shed light on the Hall of Famer’s ongoing situation. According to it, the move wasn’t a production botch at all. Instead, it could be a case where WWE was just trying to garner some much-needed fan attention.
A source within the company informed the outlet that they couldn’t describe the situation as anything more than ‘water cooler talk’. Ever since Edge fended off The Celtic Warrior in Toronto, the rumor mill has been rampant. Speculation calls for an AEW debut for the 49-year-old legend.
Although nothing is certain at this point, WWE officials do know that Edge jumping ship to the Tony Khan-owned promotion is a real possibility. Edge’s current WWE contract will expire by the end of September. For those who aren’t aware, AEW has just announced a couple of shows in Canada for December.
What was Edge’s best WWE feud in the recently concluded run?
Edge’s best WWE feud could vary from person to person. However, one could easily figure out what has been Edge‘s best rivalry since returning to WWE in 2020. Arguably, his trilogy against Seth Rollins is up right there. Their history to work with only added to the cause and the two superstars took their beef to the next level.
An angle where The Visionary invaded Edge’s house would remain surreal forever. Who could ever forget their iconic Hell in a Cell match at Crown Jewel 2021? Edge and Rollins gave everything, and it turned out to be a 5-star classic. That was the perfect way to cap off one of the best feuds WWE has had in recent memory.
Fans dubbed it the dream feud that delivered and went neck-to-neck with expectations. Later on, during an interview, Edge called Seth Rollins the Rated R Superstar of the current era in wrestling.
