“it’s on me. It’s on others”- Jeff Jarrett reveals that he felt pressured during Ric Flair’s last match

Ric Flair has been regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers ever to step foot in the squared circle. Ric Flair’s career has spanned almost 50 years now and he has been one of the toughest competitors of all time. Ric Flair was always good in promos and was an outstanding technician in the ring. Ric Flair is one of the oldest wrestlers living today and has fought almost all the greats in the wrestling industry. Ric Flair started training as a wrestler, when he was in his teens. Ric Flair held the record for most World Championship reigns(16-time) and now he shares it with with John Cena, who is also a 16-time world champion now.
Ric Flair made his official wrestling debut in December 1972 for the American Wrestling Association and since then has wrestled for numerous promotions around the world. Ric Flair seemed to have retired from wrestling in 2008 after an illustrious career, He played his final match against Shawn Michaels in WWE and announced that he has retired but thereafter, in 2010 he joined TNA and performed on the brand until 2012 and announced his second retirement. Ric Flair then appeared on WWE until 2021, where he accompanied his daughter during the initial years of her career and made some sporadic appearances after that.

Ric Flair wasn’t allowed to perform this move by his daughter Charlotte
In May 2022, Ric Flair had announced that he would be stepping in the ring for action one last time in his life. The opponents were revealed to be Jeff Jarret and Jay Lethal, whereas Ric’s tag partner was revealed to be his son in law Andrade. Flair had planned and indicated that he would be bleeding in the match, he had also planned for a dive but his daughter Charlotte banned him from performing it as it was dangerous for his health at this age and with him coming out of the deathbed in recent year.
Charlotte said in an interview with ESPN that she told her dad that the stunt wasn’t necessary in your prime and it isn’t now too, thereby banning him from performing it. The match took place on July 31st and had Wrestling legends such as Mick Foley, The Undertaker and Bret Hart in attendance. The match was about 30 minutes and Andrade and Lethal were the key players of the match as they carried it very well. As Ric Flair had planned, he bled himself when Jeff smashed his head on the guard rail. The match finished when Ric performed the Finger Four Lock on Jarret and won via pinfall.
Post-match all four performers sat for a chat with ESPN, Jeff Jarret said that it was Ric Flair’s last match and if anything had gone wrong then it was on him. He said that he is happy for Ric Flair and that as a spectator you watch it and go home but when you are participating, its whole another level of pressure that he has never been under.
“It’s his last one. If anything goes wrong, it’s on me. It’s on others. I’m so damn happy for Ric, I don’t know what to say (…) As a spectator, y’all watched it and went home tonight. When you’re participating, it’s a whole other level of pressure that I’ve never been under,”
Mick Foley, The Undertaker and Bret Hart paid their respects to the 16-time World Champion after the match.
