Former WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal, has had an eventful start to the year. From interacting with The Rock on Day 1 to the online controversy involving Tony Khan, every single detail helped the buildup to his match with Seth Rollins. Despite that, The Visionary successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship in an underwhelming main event. Later, Mahal reacted to his loss, throwing a hilarious jab at the ‘extra pyro’ rumors.
The Modern Day Maharaja addressed his loss on ‘X’. In a disappointing but light-hearted manner, he expressed not being able to use the pyro for his special Punjabi celebration. Wrestling insider BWE seemingly joked about ‘extra pyro’ before the show. As a result, many believed that a new world champion was set to be crowned on the night, whether it be Jinder Mahal or Damian Priest.

The 37-year-old has asserted that he’s looking forward to dominating 2024. Despite help from Indus Sher on Raw, Mahal couldn’t capitalize on the 3-on-1 advantage, failing to put Rollins away. The closest The Modern Day Maharaja came to winning was when he delivered a Khallas on the champ for a close three-count.
Jinder Mahal had a lot to prove going into the match. After Tony Khan referenced his losing streak a week before, anticipation surrounding the bout increased. Moreover, this led to rumors that WWE might pull the trigger on the former WWE Champion in response to the AEW CEO.
What is next for Jinder Mahal?
The main event of Raw snapped some members of the WWE Universe back to reality. Despite the buildup to the match, the bout between Seth Rollins and Jinder Mahal was nothing more than a transitional feud for the World Heavyweight Champion. More likely, it might’ve been a token of appreciation from WWE for Jinder’s recent work. However, many are curious about what lies ahead for The Modern Day Maharaja.

While Mahal’s in-ring work is not the best, he has the ability to draw genuine heat from the audience. This may have played a part in his transition from wrestler to manager for Indus Sher. Due to that, the 37-year-old will perhaps continue in the same role.
Another possible destination is for him to rejuvenate his career in the mid-card scene. WWE undoubtedly has its best crop of talent in years, so this will also pose a huge challenge for him. Needless to say, Jinder Mahal has certainly stolen the show in 2024 so far and will continue to use the momentum as he moves forward.
