John Cena is undoubtedly one of the most decorated superstars in the history of the WWE. Recently, he competed for the first time at Fastlane since his comeback last month. The ‘GOAT’ teamed up with LA Knight to defeat The Bloodline duo of Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. Moreover, Cena ended a five-year-long pay-per-view losing streak as well.
Evidently, the Franchise Player was long overdue for a win at a PLE. In fact, his last triumph came at Super ShowDown 2018, which was also a tag team match. John Cena and Bobby Lashley conquered the heelish duo of Kevin Owens and Elias. During the time span between the two victories, he wrestled three matches at marquee events, losing all of them.
Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, and Austin Theory gained wins against the Cenation Leader in the aforementioned three bouts. Furthermore, the future HOF’er last emerged victorious in a singles match at a PLE in April 2018, where he defeated Triple H at the Greatest Royal Rumble event.
Despite the dubious losing record, John Cena has previously mentioned how he puts his focus on putting over other talent whenever he appears. Also, the legend revealed during the press conference that he will continue to do so until the end of his current run. Therefore, it is difficult to expect Cena to go back to his well-known winning ways at this stage of his career.
John Cena heaps praise on LA Knight, refers to post-match moment as “authentic”
The fan-favorite duo of John Cena and LA Knight emerged victorious at Fastlane. During the post-match celebrations, the Megastar showed his respect for his tag partner by raising his hand. Later, the Cenation Leader revealed that the moment was genuine and praised Knight for his meteoric rise in the WWE.
“I love this business, and I love when people earn their respect. LA Knight has certainly done that. I was just trying to do a respectful thing in the end, and I was outsmarted. It felt really good because it was very authentic. There’s nothing I can argue with that. So that was a great moment for me,” said Cena during the press conference.
Evidently, he enjoyed the moment of teaming up with LA Knight. The latter looks like a viable contender to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship at Crown Jewel. Meanwhile, John Cena will take advantage of his remaining run to put over more superstars.
