“The actual answer is Shades of Grey”; John Cena opens up on what he feels is a perfect heel character in WWE

John Cena
John Cena worked as one of the greatest heels of the company for a short span if time. But though it was, it was very impactful and proved to be a career defining moment for the 16-time WWE champion as well. Cena has accomplished a lot in his career but his heel run has brought in a lot of popularity as well.

John Cena recently sat in an interview on ‘Backstage’ and revealed what he felt was a true heel character for. The former multiple time WWE champion revealed that a perfect heel character needs a person to look genuinely evil and that their actions should show them as dominant and dangerous. Here’s what he said:
“As a heel, you should always lean toward the side of virtue, so I think [a good heel is] someone who thinks what they’re doing is virtuous, but it’s really genuinely evil. Can’t look past their own truth, and what they do is genuinely evil. When I sit down with an opponent in WWE, it’s not to have a Kung Fu-style exhibition. We discuss why we are fighting.”
“And we will get to the bottom of that, because ‘I want to win’ is not enough. ‘I want to be a champion’ is not enough. There needs to be some more. Normally, as a good guy, you lean on the side of virtue, and the bad guy is the one who leans away from it. That’s a great start, but as WWE gets to building these personalities more and more, I think the actual answer is shades of grey.”
John Cena was a heel in his initial days in WWE
Though many might not know, the franchise player John Cena debuted in WWE with a heel character which was a very impactful one. But after he turned face, the former WWE champion has never been seen with his heel character which has also been a good part of his legendary career.
