The Greatest of All Time John Cena is bound to WWE and continues representing the promotion that made him the megastar. Back in December, he made his presence known at The Iron Claw premiere and had talks with AEW megastar MJF. The moment was highlight-worthy and made headlines as the representatives of both rival companies were seen having a nice chat. However, the personal talks were not known to the WWE Universe until now, when Cena disclosed them in an interview.
While talking with Chris Van Vliet, The Cenation Leader stated that he had been floored by Maxwell’s professionalism. Cena recalled that their first instance of meeting pulled him away quickly for clicking pictures. But when he got back to MJF, his cordial nature and classy professional act felt so special.
The 16-time WWE Champion talked more with Max and asked him to play for the right team (WWE) one day. Cena mentioned that he is doing a phenomenal job in AEW but having him in WWE would also be awesome. It would have been an easy target for the 27-year-old to have a moment with Cena while glorifying the competition between WWE and AEW. But Friedman’s competence made him respect Cena.
Honestly, I was floored by his professionalism. It would have been an easy target, at a wrestling movie premiere, to have yourself a moment. We did have a moment, and it was one the internet paid attention to, and it was one where I was hoping that this person I met, I could once bet on. 'If we just get you over here, that'd be awesome,' but it was great.John Cena about MJF’s professionalism
The 20-year-veteran knew that the then AEW World Champion would be there. But he mentioned that the old Cena would not have associated with him due to being the most of WWE. However, now he respects the room for competition and understands the fact that sports entertainment is a finicky business. That scenario could have been a bitter moment if MJF had encouraged it, but nothing of the sort happened.
John Cena comments on The Rock’s heel turn
Last month, WWE decided to swerve from their plans for the WrestleMania 40 Night 2 main event. It seemed that Cody Rhodes was going against Roman Reigns for his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. But the promotion brought The Rock into the picture and gained massive heat for such a decision. WWE Universe’s disappointment not only made WWE go back to the fan-favorite match (Cody vs. Roman) but also made Rocky lose his temper and turn heel.
John Cena has spoken on this scenario and recalled that he is unsure what to think of it now. He recalled having loved the Hollywood Rock gimmick in the mid-90s. The Cenation Leader is excited to see the end result and would love to be surprised by it; a factor that has invested him in the happenings of Rocky.
I think The Rock is such an attraction. I don't think our audience is angry with him I think there's an underlying sense of filament that they're angry that their expectations were changed.John Cena on The Rock’s heel turn
The Champ does not think that the WWE Universe is angry with The People’s Champ. But the fact that their expectations were changed has made them turn against The Brahma Bull. Cena mentioned that a long-term payoff would be beneficial for WWE, as the crowd would be patient if they planned it wisely.
