Last night in the City of Angels, the Christopher Nolan-directed Oppenheimer swept the 96th Academy Awards. However, WWE legend John Cena took the onus upon himself to ensure that people had something else to talk about as well. To begin with, Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel reiterated a fact. He underscored how a streaker ran across the stage exactly 50 years ago when David Niven was introducing Elizabeth Taylor.

Kimmel asked the audience whether they could imagine a similar sight last night. Just then, John Cena sneaked his head out. He, who was naked, tried to surreptitiously notify Jimmy that he was too ashamed to come out without clothes muffling his body. The host argued why Cena couldn’t show up when he often wrestles naked. The 16-time World Champion then affirmed that he does so in jorts and not naked.

At last, the 46-year-old agreed to proceed to the stage to present the Best Costume Design award. Cena covered his midsection with the envelope containing the winner’s name. Before he could say anything, Barbie actress Margot Robbie, along with others, guffawed in unison. Cena was then aided by Kimmel as he announced the nominees for the said category.

Eventually, the award went to Poor Things. Nonetheless, amidst the palpable ado, John stole the night in Los Angeles. He also caught up with fellow wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Bad Bunny backstage. Cena’s contentious outing at the Oscars engendered an online discourse. Fans had mixed reactions to the WWE legend’s choice of grooming himself up for the occasion.

In 27 days, WWE will present its 40th anniversary of WrestleMania. The show is set to stage the in-ring return of Hollywood actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after 8 years. That leaves the fans wondering whether John Cena will have a role to play at The Showcase of the Immortals.

Reports suggest that the idea has been broached in WWE circles. And recently, while appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Cena confirmed that he’s free that day. The Franchise Player also discussed the possibility of bumping into The People’s Champ in the process.

John said he doesn’t know about it, citing that he won’t make any promises he can’t fulfill. His acting schedule for Peacemaker’s second season wouldn’t be an impediment to Cena’s WrestleMania appearance. James Gunn, the DC Studios CEO, confirmed that the filming is expected to begin in the summer, leaving Cena free for a cameo in Philadelphia.
