Huge Update Regarding Karl Anderson and NJPW Controversy Leaves Fans Disappointed
Karl Anderson would not be wrestling at NJPW's Battle Autumn Show scheduled for November 5.
Karl Anderson and the NJPW controversy has been in the news for quite some time now. The Japanese promotion had asked Anderson to fulfill his commitments of being present at its Battle Autumn Show scheduled to be held on November 5, the same day at which WWE’s Crown Jewel has been scheduled. Therefore, Anderson who will also be participating in the 6-man Tag Team match will not be able to show up to defend his title against Hikuleo.
NJPW in an official statement said today that even after continuous attempts no communication channel could be established between Anderson and the promotion which led the promotion to eventually call off the match. Karl Anderson is the current NEVER Openweight Champion and made his return to WWE along with Luke Gallows on the October 10 edition of Monday Night RAW.
In an official statement released on their website, the promotion said- “Despite extensive efforts by New Japan Pro-Wrestling to negotiate with Karl Anderson regarding his scheduled match in Osaka at Battle Autumn on November 5, NJPW officials have still been met with no response, and have been left with no other option but to cancel the planned NEVER Openweight Championship match.”
The promotion further apologized to fans who were anticipated to see Anderson fight at the event. The statement also said that now the challenger Hikuleo will face Yujiro Takahashi in a non-title singles special match at the marquee event. The company ended the statement by saying that it holds its champions at the highest standard of professionalism but were sorry for the inconvenience caused.
NJPW had issued a Strict Warning to Karl Anderson Earlier and Had Asked Him to Surrender His Belt
Since the Crown Jewel and NJPW’s event lie on the same date it is virtually impossible for Anderson to be at both the places, thus NJPW had earlier issued a warning to Anderson by saying that the OC member would require to surrender his championship if he fails to fulfill his commitments.
The promotion also alleged that Anderson was well aware of the scheduled bout yet made an appearance in WWE on the October 10 edition of RAW and was then put in a match at Crown Jewel. After the warning Anderson had clearly declined that he’ll not be returning any championship and thus many were expecting him to show up at the event but it is now clear that the match has been called off.
The O.C.- Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows made an unexpected return to RAW on 10 th October aligning with their former partner AJ Styles to help him against The Judgement Day. After which a 6-Man Tag Team Match was made official for Crown Jewel in which The Good Brothers will take on The Judgement Day comprising Damian Priest, Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio.
