The Brahma Bull had failed to beat his biggest nemesis at WrestleMania 15 and 17, so he surely wasn’t going to fail at this one and beat Austin via pinfall. Though the encounter wasn’t as good as their encounters at WrestleMania 15 and 17, it was a fitting finale to their long rivalry. Stone Cold Steve Austin was one of the most influential figures of the WWE, most notably of the attitude era. The Texas Rattlesnake defeated Shamrock that night, and their match lasting for only 6 minutes and 16 seconds. During a recent appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Shamrock spoke about working with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Shamrock feels that Austin felt really comfortable with him. He recalled their encounter on RAW in a main event match in 1998. Shamrock stated that Steve Austin, too, felt like it was an honor to have wrestled him.
“And me going in there [RAW main event match against Austin in 1998], obviously he had a tremendous amount of respect for me. And I think in his own mind it was like, it was an honor for him to wrestle me in this stage because of who I was. It was a feather in his cap per se,”
