Amidst the hoo-ha of AEW Worlds End pay-per-view, a long-term WWE Executive, who’s been a notorious Vince McMahon servant, is leaving the company. That’s right, as PWInsider exclusively revealed, WWE’s Chief of Global Television Distribution, Kevin Dunn, is set to depart WWE after being in the position for over three decades. He allegedly informed the company’s top brass about his decision around Christmas week.
Moreover, his departure stems from the changes that were incorporated into WWE’s post-Endeavor acquisition. According to one source, Dunn implied that he was never going to do anything dictated to him, as opposed to his previous stance of overseeing production. The report added that Kevin’s decision doesn’t have anything to do with creative but with how WWE’s TV production is going to look in the future.
It’s been a well-documented fact that Kevin Dunn was one of Vince McMahon’s closest allies in WWE. Back in 2022, when McMahon announced his premature retirement amid hush money allegations, Dunn was asked to stay with WWE. With Dunn being the latest figure to leave the Stamford-based promotion, the fans are ecstatic. For years, they’ve been clamoring for the defenestration of what many would call Vince McMahon’s right hand.
Kevin’s leaving the company is going to have its ramifications. A complete aesthetic overhaul might be on the cards, as Dunn was responsible for the overall vibe and presentation of WWE product up until now. His influence was unmatched, and it could be gauged from the fact that WWE immediately named him the Executive Producer of all programming when Raw commenced its tenure on the USA Network in 1993.
Is Vince McMahon still involved in WWE’s day-to-day operations?
Ever since Ari Emanuel axed Vince McMahon from meddling in WWE’s creative department, the on-screen product has had smooth sailing. Around the spring season, there were heavy traces of the 78-year-old’s influence being back in full effect.
However, taking active notice of TKO’s falling stock prices when Vince was unveiled as one of the members of TKO’s Board of Directors, Emanuel took some major steps. First, he knighted Triple H as the sole go-to executive when it comes to overseeing creative duties in WWE.
Moreover, the Endeavor CEO implicitly blamed the former WWE Chairman for the company’s falling prices. It’s been all Triple H for the past few months, and it appears like the fans are in for a treat in 2024. With Kevin Dunn out of the picture, there would no longer be unnecessary camera cuts on WWE television, enhancing the viewer’s experience.
