AEW fired CM Punk after a backstage scuffle with Jack Perry at All In. As a result, the wrestling community has speculated whether his return to WWE is possible or not. On his podcast, Kevin Nash recently revealed he would not consider the idea at all if he were Vince McMahon or Triple H.
Speaking on the Kliq This podcast, the Hall of Famer expressed his opinion about the fiasco. According to him, the Second City Saint has already put himself on the mettle with The Ultimate Warrior. As many may know, Warrior ended up on bad terms with the promotion in 1996 due to his attitude issues backstage.
“You’re sucker punching Luke Perry’s son. You’re lucky the old man’s not around, or he’d have you murdered,” Nash continued to say. Furthermore, he claimed that CM Punk shouldn’t be hired for marketing or business reasons as well. The pair once feuded during the summer of 2011, when Nash cost the Best In The World his WWE Championship.
However, it was short-lived, as the WWE veteran was unfit to wrestle. Fans are currently awaiting a response from Punk in regards to his shocking termination. Furthermore, reports speculate that the reply has the potential to be explosive. Meanwhile, WWE’s focus is on closing their merger deal under Endeavor, which will be finalized on September 12.
CM Punk was reportedly working close with Tony Khan before exit
The shocking release of CM Punk from AEW continues to dominate headlines online. Moreover, various reports have circulated online on the status of the Second City Saint backstage. As per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he was working closely with Tony Khan on Collision before his exit.
Khan and Punk were operating behind the scenes together on the creative aspect of the show. Furthermore, the AEW President hired back Ace Steel at the behest of Punk. Last year’s All In incident led to the firing of the former. However, Steel faced termination once again a few days after his friend’s dismissal.
The company roped in Bryan Danielson to replace the two-time AEW Champion. The former WWE superstar will likely release a statement, replying to Tony Khan’s allegations that he inflicted harm on him. Moreover, he might reveal what lies ahead of him in the future.
