2023 was the year when WWE reformed the tag team of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The two had a great start as a tag team and were one of the prominent parts of Monday Night Raw. Recently, the Prizefighter talked about his resentment over the underwhelming run with his friend Sami Zayn.

In an interview with Mail Sport, Kevin Owens expressed his displeasure with his run with Zayn. He stated that due to the lack of a spotlight, their run fell short of making any impact on the WWE Universe. Moreover, Owens added that their tag team reign had several memorable moments. However, it all went nowhere, which made their time together underappreciated.

Me and Sami worked our as*es off to give main events on RAW every week that had people going wild and we succeeded, and I’m not one to toot my own horn, I really am not, but I think Sami and I did a lot of special things as champions that went under the radar because they weren’t on pay-per-views. They weren’t under the big bright lights. They were usually on RAW.

Kevin and Sami won the Undisputed Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania Night 1. They defeated the Usos in the main event to capture the gold. It was a sight to behold, as many fans thought it was the start of something huge for Sami-KO. However, it all went downhill afterward, leading to an awful run as champions.

The two stars were separated in late 2023. Owens came to SmackDown and picked up a feud with Grayson Waller and Austin Theory. Sami Zayn was a part of a few random feuds afterward. As of now, Owens is involved in a boiling feud with Logan Paul. As for Zayn, he is on a quest to win a championship at WrestleMania in Philadelphia.

Kevin Owens admits the success of the Usos

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were a remarkable tag team. They had a remarkable win at the Grandest Stage of Them All last year. Although the moment had all the fans behind Sami and Owens, however, it was downhill afterward. In an interview with MailSport, Owens admitted that his team with Zayn was unsuccessful in reaching the success of the Usos.

Kevin Owens stated that the Usos brought luster to the title. They brought prestige to the championships and made them feel important. However, their team was short on making such an impact on the titles during their reign. Owens went on to admit that they were far from being on par with the Usos in terms of success.

We had some very special matches. It was great to have that with him [Sami Zayn] regardless of what I wish we could have accomplished. One of the things I had said before we won the titles is I hope we were gonna do justice to the run The Usos had with them. I don't think we got the chance to do that, but it's certainly not for lack of trying on our part.

Moreover, Owens wished something different for himself and Sami. However, the circumstances led to a different path. Only time will tell if WWE ever reunites the team of Zayn and the Prizefighter. It is going to be interesting to see where the future of the two stars is headed in WWE from here on out.
