Fan favorite 39-year-old reveals WWE’s scrapped plans of him facing the Undertaker in his WrestleMania match

The Prizefighter, Kevin Owens has already established himself as a seasoned veteran in the company. He was a part of two main events in a row at WrestleMania 38 and 39. However, he could’ve added one more dream match in his career, and that was against The Undertaker.

Owens gave an interview on WrestleSphere and talked about the plans for him to battle The Phenom. The 39-year-old said that it would’ve been amazing for him to fight a legend like The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32. Instead, he fought in a ladder match for the I.C. title in a losing effort.

Meanwhile, The Undertaker fought Shane McMahon in the gruesome Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 32. The wrestling world witnessed an iconic moment as Shane crashed down on the table from the top of the cell. The 59-year-old legend won the match, taking his WrestleMania record to 23 wins. 

I know it was on the table and it was heavily discussed and it would have been amazing. My first WrestleMania, to be in there with The Undertaker, would have been sweet.

Owens will be a part of WrestleMania 40 too, as he will look forward to winning the U.S title against Logan Paul and Randy Orton. Although the two challengers have a common enemy in Paul, it will be every man for himself. Upon learning about the triple threat match, Paul questioned the legality of such an endeavor. Likely, because he is afraid of the two fighters ganging up on him. Only time will tell who will be the U.S. champion at the Show of Shows.

Former WWE star Elias had nothing but praise for Kevin Owens

Former WWE star Elias, who is now known as Elijah, had struck quite a partnership with Kevin Owens. The chemistry between the two stars was so good that their partnership was as enjoyable as their on-screen rivalry. The 36-year-old star talked about his relationship with The Prizefighter in an interview.

In an interview with SoCal Val for Monopoly Events, he talked about the amazing bond he made with Owens. Elias stated that he is one of the good people who make the locker room environment comfortable for other wrestlers. He remembered his matches as ‘Ezekiel’ with him and praised him as a professional wrestler. 

Me and Kev have a lot of great moments, together and against each other. We formed a friendship really quickly in WWE. He's one of the best guys around. … Kev is awesome.

The two superstars were involved in a hilarious but memorable storyline in 2022. After the night of WrestleMania 38, Ezekiel introduced himself as the brother of Elias, in a clean-shaved look. While fans got behind the character and believed he was actually Ezekiel, Owens just wasn’t ready to accept that. His constant attempt to prove he is Elias and not Ezekiel led to some of the most hilarious segments.

WWE released Elias in September 2023, and then he made his debut in the independent circuit, going by the name Elijah. He wrestled in his first match after his WWE release in February 2024 at a promotion named Wrestling Revolver in a losing effort to a wrestler named Mike Bailey.
